COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A note from Papsoe: some bottles seem to develop excessive carbonation hence please chill well and open Hr. Papsø over the kitchen sink with a glass closeby!

Hr.

English: This beer is named after our good friend, Mr. Henrik Papsoe, who has reached 10,000 ratings this year at www.ratebeer.com. Mr. Papsoe reflects sweetness and those who have had the pleasure of meeting him have found to their cost that he is sweet, obliging, and solid, yet also complex. He is to be enjoyed in small quantities, but nevertheless his alcohol and generous nature is a delight to be warmed by. Even though Mr. Papsoe is soft, he can easily be aged. Due to long-time aging on barrels, Mr. Papsoe has notes of vanilla, bourbon, and wood. One of the ingredients is a special produced dark Muscovado syrup, which provides him with his full body and sweetness. If you have a sweet tooth that you happily fill with sweets, this beer is particularly well-suited. Well, actually we would claim that we have filled adult candy onto bottles.

(25 cl bottle; Batch #97) Pours clear brown with quickly receding tan head. A little lace. Aroma is dominated by notes of bourbon and oak. Lively carbonation, medium body, watery texture and a warming finish. The flavour is slightly oxidised bready malt with notes from the aroma. I’m glad I got to taste this but I prefer something darker, thicker and more hoppy.

Pours murky brown color with small head. Lots of pressure in the bottle. Aroma of sweet malts compareable to Founder Backwoods Bastard, some barley wine like elements. Flavor of sweet malts, some syrup and pine. Some tangy palate from the barrels. More like an english barley wine than an quad.

(Draught) Pours hazy reddish brown. The aroma holds oak wood, bourbon and vanilla up front with undertones of sweet fruits, sugar and robust malt. Some alcohol warmth on the nose. The flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Fat malty and bourbon oaky with notes of fruits and spices. The mouthfeel is soft and smooth. Medium to full bodied.

Massor av jäst i stora klumpar syns i flaskan. Söta karamell och vaniljtoner, lite fat. Rejäl kropp med mycket tryck men samtidigt väldigt balanserad. Riktigt god.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Bottle opens with a surprising gusher that sprays all over the table and the floor. Mud-colored beer with only little but of dirty-looking light-brown foam. Aroma of malt, bourbon, chocolate and some roastiness. Sweet malty flavor with chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, yeast and a bit of alcohol. Medium to full-bodied and pretty thick. Decent and pretty easy-drinking for a 12%, alcohol is pretty well-hidden.

No carb problem. no head! deep aged brown colour. nose with liquorice, bacon, cake, massive, yet very elegant. Medium body - maybe due to the high carb? some length but not overwhelming. Taste is driven by the carbonation which is high. Taste of cognag!?! licorice, chocolate, caramel, fruit cake. very deep!
