COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A note from Papsoe: some bottles seem to develop excessive carbonation hence please chill well and open Hr. Papsø over the kitchen sink with a glass closeby!

Hr.

English: This beer is named after our good friend, Mr. Henrik Papsoe, who has reached 10,000 ratings this year at www.ratebeer.com. Mr. Papsoe reflects sweetness and those who have had the pleasure of meeting him have found to their cost that he is sweet, obliging, and solid, yet also complex. He is to be enjoyed in small quantities, but nevertheless his alcohol and generous nature is a delight to be warmed by. Even though Mr. Papsoe is soft, he can easily be aged. Due to long-time aging on barrels, Mr. Papsoe has notes of vanilla, bourbon, and wood. One of the ingredients is a special produced dark Muscovado syrup, which provides him with his full body and sweetness. If you have a sweet tooth that you happily fill with sweets, this beer is particularly well-suited. Well, actually we would claim that we have filled adult candy onto bottles.

Bottle bought in Copenhagen 2010. Muddy dark brown with a minimal head. A lot of barrel both in the aroma and taste. Also dried fruit, oak, vanilla and caramel. Not that much carbonation left. A great beer to sip. What a pity that I only bought one bottle.

Bottle acquired via trade with KingCecil...have wanted to try this for a while and thankful I got the opportunity! Murky Oak Creek in color with lots of Sedona red, burnt tangerine, chestnut, and mahogany. Very little carbonation that perhaps resulted in a bubble or two after an aggressive pour. Not the prettiest beer but it was all up hill from there. Flavor and aroma show loads of caramel, toasted oak, raw wood, bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar, cocoa, and molasses. A little sweet and the alcohol is present but neither is overly distracting. Could have benefited from a touch more carbonation, still the mouthfeel was full and sticky. Pretty damn good!

Bottle. Pours ruby red with LOTS of carbonation. Taste is quite complex - lots of stuff in there; caramel, sugar, vanilla, bourbon, fruits and malts. You can taste the alcohol but it’s not dominating. A very good quad.

Bottle; thanks Papsoe! Pours a murky liquid poopy brown with no head. Funny cuz it gushed a little bit, a slow gush mind you, but the carbonation dissipates quickly. The beer does not suffer too much thankfully. Nose is rather raw at first, but mellows out as it breathes and warms. Dark fruits, hazelnuts, lots of brown sugar and caramelized sugar, woody and bourbon. Much more aromatic and inviting after ten minutes so this is a bad beer to have at a rapid fire tasting/gathering (I know *every* beer is) but I'm just saying. Palate is on the thin side, dark fruits, light metal, vanilla, booze, light bitterness, caramel finish. Overall one of the more complex quads I've had in a while but it is a style I rarely quaff these days. A fine beer worthy of the legend for which it is named. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy brown color ale with a large foamy head with average retention and some good lacing. Aroma of sugar is quite inete4nse with bourbon and vanilla notes also easily discernable. Taste is a great mix between loads of residual sugar with some vanilla and bourbon notes with some dry raisins and plums notes also perceptible. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very good though not something I would drink in large quantities since the sweetness level is bordering on gross.

Bottle at Dan’s, pour courtesy of Aaron. Thanks Man! Pour is deep, caramel, with a small off-white head and no visible lacing. Big caramel, raisins, figs, brown sugar, vanilla, and maple int he aroma. Taste is light roast, caramel, candi sugar, light cardboard, grapefruit, vanilla, and wood. Sticky mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Really easy to drink and the alcohol is hidden dangerously. Pretty tasty.

Bottle @ Dan’s house, courtesy of Papsoe! Thanks again, friend! Pours a hazy orangish brown appearance with a tiny, tan head. Quite sweet, rich candy sugar, plum, dark fruity, woody, tangy aroma. Somewhat oxidized, rich caramel, toffee, dull whiskey, vanilla, woody, candy sugar flavor. Pretty tasty that I imagine would even be better a bit more fresh.
