COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A note from Papsoe: some bottles seem to develop excessive carbonation hence please chill well and open Hr. Papsø over the kitchen sink with a glass closeby!

Hr.

English: This beer is named after our good friend, Mr. Henrik Papsoe, who has reached 10,000 ratings this year at www.ratebeer.com. Mr. Papsoe reflects sweetness and those who have had the pleasure of meeting him have found to their cost that he is sweet, obliging, and solid, yet also complex. He is to be enjoyed in small quantities, but nevertheless his alcohol and generous nature is a delight to be warmed by. Even though Mr. Papsoe is soft, he can easily be aged. Due to long-time aging on barrels, Mr. Papsoe has notes of vanilla, bourbon, and wood. One of the ingredients is a special produced dark Muscovado syrup, which provides him with his full body and sweetness. If you have a sweet tooth that you happily fill with sweets, this beer is particularly well-suited. Well, actually we would claim that we have filled adult candy onto bottles.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2008 [EBF @ Copenhagen, September 2008] Congratulations to Hr. Papsø and the Amager Bryghus crew for creating this amazing and very unique one of a kind beer! Average fizzy white head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Cloudy to almost muddy dark amber color, depending on how the beer is being poured into the glass. (I like it muddy….he he). The complexity of the aroma was unbelievable where the heavy notes of a classic Quadrupel with a lovely subtly touch of Bourbon character, add to the already complex nature of this wonderful beer. For me this is by far the best beer Amager Bryghus has produced so far. Over the palate came notes of dry wood, raisins, prune juice, vanilla, mild touch of alcohol. Very full bodied with an average to almost lively carbonation which added to the complex feel you got from this beer. Texture was thick and warming alcoholic in a subtly way. Heavy sweet flavor but with a perfect balance of bitterness from the hops. Lingering heavy sweet Bourbon fruity warming alcoholic finish. Wow that makes me want to cry of happiness.

Bottle from my friend WeeHeavySD tried at alohaCs 2008 end of the year tasting. Huge thanks Jon! What an excellent quad. Can’t wait to see more BA quads being brewed. BA Westy anyone? Dark cloudy amber color. Smells really, really good. Buttery, sweet oaky barrel aged wonderful aroma. Light mouthfeel from carbonation and alcohol. Lightly sweet. Excellent.

No carb problem. no head! deep aged brown colour. nose with liquorice, bacon, cake, massive, yet very elegant. Medium body - maybe due to the high carb? some length but not overwhelming. Taste is driven by the carbonation which is high. Taste of cognag!?! licorice, chocolate, caramel, fruit cake. very deep!

Bottle@ home while Papsø and other beer geeks are running around CBF scoring brews on ratebeer. Very complex aroma of caramel and raisins. Thin head with a lot of body. Plenty of sweetness. Nice long finish of oak. An alfamale brew.

Hazy mahagony color. Medium beige head. Intense, rich and complex aroma with some sweetness, vinous fruityness, vanilla, oak, bourbon and raisins. Flavour is also sweet, warming, rich and soft with vanilla, bourbon, oak, raisins, prunes, caramel, toffee, vinous fruitiness and in aftertaste mild hoppiness too. The warming alcohol is present quite moderately. Enduring and rich aftertaste too. That’s my first rating at Ratebeer after rating 8000 beers in Finnish in my notebooks... Cheers Henrik, this beer is really worth it and also worth you!

Bottled 330ml. -Courtesy of Marko(huge thanks), shared with him and heavy.
Batch No.97. Muddy brown coloured, creamy off white head that went away rapidly, caramel and bourbon in the nose with hint of alcohol. Roasted malt, woody and bourbon taste with notes of vanilla and chestnut. Well balanced beer, warming alcoholic and dry finish. Pitty it comes in such small bottles.

thanks to the man himself! slow gush, about 1/4 of the bottle. nets one nice full piur in my utopias glass without the sediment. a very opaque, muddy brown orange pour with asparse white head. aroma is very spicey and earthy, mild bourbon profile on the nose. the bourbon is more present in the taste, but still not overwhelming. pretty sweet, but not overly in anyway. not too lively on the tongue, great palate and body. a great beer, very glad to try such a special beer.

A fine fine drink from our friends in Europe and a fine tribute as well. Big bubbly head that quickly dissipates into a rim around the glass of bubbly carbonation. Prune, plum, and another sort of musty chalky kind of aroma. Very interesting that musty part. Surprisingly smooth at first sip. You get a lot of syrupy sweetness and caramel goodness up front. That leads into a more stabbing kind of alcohol bite followed by a good fruitiness, cherry and grape. You are left with a pleasant sweetness and delicious mouth coating candy kind of experience. The subtlety here is to be admired.
