Commercial Description:
Hr.

English: This beer is named after our good friend, Mr. Henrik Papsoe, who has reached 10,000 ratings this year at www.ratebeer.com. Mr. Papsoe reflects sweetness and those who have had the pleasure of meeting him have found to their cost that he is sweet, obliging, and solid, yet also complex. He is to be enjoyed in small quantities, but nevertheless his alcohol and generous nature is a delight to be warmed by. Even though Mr. Papsoe is soft, he can easily be aged. Due to long-time aging on barrels, Mr. Papsoe has notes of vanilla, bourbon, and wood. One of the ingredients is a special produced dark Muscovado syrup, which provides him with his full body and sweetness. If you have a sweet tooth that you happily fill with sweets, this beer is particularly well-suited. Well, actually we would claim that we have filled adult candy onto bottles.

Bottle 25cl - curtesy of the man himself (thanks paps). Dark black/brown and slightly hazy body with medium size off white head leaving laces. Lots of sweets and caramel in the nose. Very sweet and full body with lots of caramel and vanilla but also fruity notes in the body. Alcohol not as dominating as expected (which is nice). Generally very complex flavour. Clear traces of the burbon barrels in the finish. Really nice beer you got yourself there paps, but i´m glad it´s only 25cl :-)

Bottle that I picked up at Bierkoning, Amsterdam, October 2009 consumed 26-12-09 Pours murky brown with off-white filmy head. Aroma is very good and is bourbon, oak, vanilla and dark sweet sugars. Taste is quite sweet with a whisky type flavour lingering throughout, slight dryness, alcohol is quite noticeable though never, ever harsh, woody, soft, with a noticeable sweetness. I wish the flavour had lived up to the promise of the aroma. A8 A4 F6 P3 Ov14 3.5

bottle. mostly clear dark honey colored body. nose is sweaty and sharp oaked fruit - brown banana, overlysweet apricot, peach skin with strong notes of caramel and alcohol. very rough carbonation - biting, harsh, very abrasive, it doesn’t help at all that the oak is so brazen and rough, the carbonation just amplifies how coarse the oak is. flavor-wise it’s not bad - dark fruit, caramelized dates, little bit of sweet bourbon and tobacco, but again the texture is nearly unbearable.

Batch 97 bottle from the man himself, THANKS Henrik! Opaque brown pour with small off white head and no lacing. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, wood, and sweet caramel with the flavor being identical with the aroma...in a good way. The 12 ABV is very well hidden. Feel quite priviledged to have tried this rarity.

Bottle from Barleywine in CPH. Pours murky brown with tan head. Nice quad, but a bit too sweet and bourbon dominant for me. Nose is domiinated by bourbon. Taste of bourbon, vanilla, raisins, brown sugar, very sweet. Warming finish. Tasty beer.

Murky dark brown colored with vanishing yellow head. Rich oaky-vanilla aroma with some bourbon notes too, sweet and sticky, sugary aroma. Medium to full bodied, still carbonation makes this feel rather thin for 12%. Flavor is also sugary in start, oak and vanilla come up in aftertaste. Aftertaste has mild alcohol with bourbon still here. Expected more.

In an effort to knock out the rest of my backlog, my ratings will be fairly generic and sparse. If the beer had anything special to offer, it will be noted following this disclaimer. The number ratings above are accurate based on my tasting notes. Following the elimination of my backlog, all beers will be entered in real time and will be more useful. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Strong barrel aged brew with a solid base beer. Thick, sweet and uncompromising. Packs a big flavor punch. Very good. I wish I could get some more of this one.
