Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 140+ IBU

English: It is hardly a secret that we at Amager Bryghus tend to care for Imperial Stouts - the finest and most noble of all beer styles. Actually, at the brewery we are at all times developing new variants of this noble drink. As always, we tend to add more of everything, which is also the case with this beer: it took no less than eight different malts and three different hops, and we are especially proud to present the king of hops; Zeus. Amager Imperial Stout is a beer as black as original sin itself, topped with the most dense and creamy light brown head. Clear notes of coffee and chocolate, but they appear from the malt exclusively, whereas the scent is rich of vanilla. In all regards Amager Imperial Stout is an extreme beer for the demanding and experienced beer lover, who is not afraid of challenging his senses.

Bottle that I got from Beers of Europe, consumed 22-12-09 Pours to all intents and purposes black, with large billowing brown head. Aroma is prodominantly hops but there is a very noticeable waft of bitter roasted coffee actually I think more like cappucino its not as bitter as I expected and creamier thinking about it, there is also some chocolate. The key aroma’s are very much replicated in the mouth, very similar in style to many of the big hitting well respected American Impy stouts, with the big hoppy profile, Loz noticed the chocolate more in the mouth than I did. Really nice stuff but one was enough. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown with a lasting creamy light-brown head. Great aroma of fresh green hops, roasted malt, light coffee, nuts and dark fruit. Flavour of dark roasted malt, lots of hops, dark fruit and dark chocolate. Dry finish. Alcohol’s pretty well hidden. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel. An awesome beer.

Bottle. Pitch black’ish beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is roasted and very bitter, and the flavour is very bitter, roasted and dry. Overall a very nice imperial stout.

Very typical of the guys from Amager Bryghus: A strong, bitter, dark stout. A bit more and it would have been an extreme beer. Share with somebody, a whole bottle is almost to much.

Deep shiny black with a small solid brown head that leaves proper lazing on whatever your pour it in. Aroma is extremely one-dimensional hoppy and harshly roasted. Flavour is about the same but with more malt complexity, coffe, bitter chocolate, green hops and light caramell. End is harsh and bitter and very roasted. A very extreme un-balanced imperial stout.

Deep black, large lingering creamy beige head, excellent lacing. Aroma is of milk chocolate, brown sugar, roasted malts, noticable alcohol. Flavour of of chocolate, roasted malts, espresso, alcohol, high sweetness, milk. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/large body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, very sweet, rather warming.

It’s not that bad but the sweetness is very distracting most of the time. Alcohol is fairly well hidden.

500ml bottle obtained in a trade with Boutip, thanks Phil.
Opened on February 25, 2009.
Batch #65, Best before January 2013.

Bottle ( 500ml ). Shared by with blankboy and garthicus - via trade with glouglouburp. Oily-looking thick black pour with a solid lasting creamy fairly dark brown head. My palate was in need of a kick-start; this did it - aroma was oily, nutty, almost burnt, hint of dark fruit - plenty of dry roast goodness and alcohol - not a shy beer. The taste followed - dry, deep, dark roasty, alcohol, with prune and a hint of soya sauce. Slick, fairly thick, boozy-bitter burnt mouthfeel - a nice strong impy, just what the doc ordered at this point in the tasting.

Bottle thanks to Glouglouburp!
Jet black with a foamy, dark tan head gives lacing deluxe. Tons of dark fruit in the nose, also lightly burnt malt, licorice, and alcohol. The licorice is quite strong in the flavor, coupling nicely with the dark malt and light touches of alcohol. Thin, roasty palate, lightly sticky and very salty in the finish. Good beer, the varied dark fruits in the nose and licorice-roasted malt coupling in the flavor both being uniquely well-done.
