COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It is hardly a secret that we at the Amager Brewery have a deep rooted love for Imperial Stouts - the noblest of all beers. In fact, we are constantly in the process of developing new variations of this fine beverage, this variation has eight malts and three hops. We are particularly proud to present what we feel is the king of hops: Zeus.
Amager Imperial Stout is a beer as black as mortal sin , crowned with the densest and most creamy light brown head. The coffee and chocolate accents are very distinct, but they come exclusively from the malt, while the aroma is rich with vanilla.
Amager Imperial Stout is in all respects a fierce beer for the more demanding and experienced beer drinkers who are not afraid to challenge their senses.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt, wheat malt, oats, brown sugar, hops and yeast

Bottle from Bierkompass!
Pours deep black with flat, creaky browmish head. Smells strong malty with lots of coffee, chocolate and some alcohol. Starts with massive coffee’ish roasted malts, caramel, chocolate and bitter burnt malts. Middle part is malty roaaty, with lots of bitter coffee and sweetish chocolate. Goes into a coffee-malty finish with sweet chocolate and lots of roasted malts.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99 (6/2011, notes). Pours dark brown to black with a purple sheen and a small beige head. The aroma has some sweetness, dark malts, chocolate, light roast and dark fruit. The flavor has roasted malt, dark fruits, some acidity, chocolate. This is decent enough, but doesn’t quite carry the body of American style Imperial stouts.

500 ml bottle. Pours a thick pitch black color with a small foamy head that fades normally to a ring. Rich, roasty vanilla aroma with some chocolate, licorice, caramel, and milk. Taste has a very light chocolaty sweetness up front but quickly countered by a strong bitter roasted coffee taste. Pretty intensely bitter beer with lots of dark roast and vanilla. Finish brings out some light licorice and caramel too. Thick body with a very creamy and chewy mouthfeel. Overall, I’d like some sweetness or something else to counter the very intense bitterness. But it’s still pretty enjoyable with a really nice aroma.

6/07/2011: Amager Imperial Stout... Aroma: Milky Dutch cocoa. Appearance: Beer is near black in color and has a brown head. Flavor: Slight meatiness that quickly disappears; milk and dark chocolate blend; heavy dark fruits with some balancing acidity. Palate: Body is medium-full; smooth, milky texture. Overall: Very drinkable and very sessionable, but would like more depth and complexity.

1 pt. 0.9 fl. oz. bottle (10% ALC/VOL) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #296 for this beer.

50 cl bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a nice tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, vanilla, dark fruit, chocolate. The palate is a pleasant creamy medium body with low carbonation and with a long and slightly bitter finish. Flavor matches aroma with some added sweetness and a hint of peat. Very drinkable and ABV is well hidden.

Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours a deep brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is rich and heavy, syrupy with a slight hint of vanilla, as well as some notes of smoke, chocolate and coffee. Surprisingly medium body, syrupy mouthfeel. Finish is a bit unexpected, but good. Smoky and oaky, slight bitterness, long and acerbic. Really a lovely beer.
