COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It is hardly a secret that we at the Amager Brewery have a deep rooted love for Imperial Stouts - the noblest of all beers. In fact, we are constantly in the process of developing new variations of this fine beverage, this variation has eight malts and three hops. We are particularly proud to present what we feel is the king of hops: Zeus.
Amager Imperial Stout is a beer as black as mortal sin , crowned with the densest and most creamy light brown head. The coffee and chocolate accents are very distinct, but they come exclusively from the malt, while the aroma is rich with vanilla.
Amager Imperial Stout is in all respects a fierce beer for the more demanding and experienced beer drinkers who are not afraid to challenge their senses.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt, wheat malt, oats, brown sugar, hops and yeast

Bottle sample @ 2nd RBBSG, August 11th 2012.

The aroma is burnt and toasted with coffee and chocolate as well as cardboard and grass. The appearance is dark brown with a tan head. The taste is like the aroma but slightly medicinal. The palate is thin for the style. Overall I expected more from this one.

500ml bottle courtesy of summer secret santa 2012. thanks, mike! pours a rich, silky, black capped by a thick, rocky, dark kahki head that leaves oily sheets of lace. aroma is great with heavy belgian chocolate, roasted coffee, malted milk balls, and vanilla backed by earthy hops, brown sugar, and dusty oats. flavor is delicious as well with rich, smooth roasted malts, fresh coffee beans, dark chocolate, and twix bars backed by vanilla pudding, grassy hops, belgian yeast, and a hint of rye on the back end. palate is smooth and medium bodied with fine carbonation and a dry, very bitter, roasted, chocolatey finish. overall, a damn fine imperial stout.

Black with just a bit of tan head. Malty aroma of raisins and vanilla. Rich chewy palate with notes of tobacco, leather, kola nut and toffee. Strong kick but not overwhelming. Fresh hoppy finish coats under the tongue. .

Oh man, this is good. Poured a touch cold, with a smallish tan head that soon settles to a few foamy islands and a rign wiht plenty of lace. Color in even the narrow part of the glass is an absolutely opaque, pitch brown black. Aroma is roast, malt, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, and heady. Flavor’s like nose, a rich blend of a balanced sweet, bitter and slight tang. Body is full, a little soft, but not too, and for such a big beer, easy driiniking. Finish is like flavor, sweet giving way to bitter, long, and very satisfying. Alcohol is fairly hidden. Really good beer.

Opaque black stout, Sweetish nose, smells a little oaky but it isn’t oaked! Soft and dry palate. Rich dark malt, smooth with a repressed minerally hop bitterness. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Bitter but light Impy but I could not drink loads of this.

Draft at Capones in Norristown, PA. Pours pitch black with a one finger dark beige head that slowly settles into a thin ring.  Streaks of lacing left behind. Slightly smokey, roasted malt aroma with hints of dark chocolate, coffee and floral, earthy hops.  A bit tamer than expected with some nice roast and dark malt but kind of pedestrian. Slightly chewy, medium body with a decent balance of roasted malt, lactic cream and silky chooclate. There’s also a nice bitter and earthy hop presence toward the end of the plate that adds complexity and balance.  Slight lactic cream presence but remains bitter throughout with hints of burnt toast, dark chocolate, oatmeal and coffee bean. Still, surprisingly not a complete malt bomb with some silky sweeter chocolate notes and peppery spice. Dry finish.
