yngwie (3602), Kristiansand, Norway Oct 5, 2008 Bottle, #66. Immediately after popping the cap, aromas of sweet chocolate and coffee escapes the bottle, along with a touch of vanilla. The beer pours black, with a thick, dense tan head leaving nice lacings. When examining the aroma more thoroughly, it confirms the first impression of chocolate, coffee, sweetness and some vanilla. Dark malts and hoppy aromas blend nicely in. Even though it’s quite sweet, it has a dryness in the mouth, along with some warmth from the alcohol. Sure full-bodied, and there’s lots of flavors in it, sugar, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, some vanilla, piney hops and lots of hoppy bitterness coming stronger and stronger towards the very end. Coffee-like bitterness and sweetness also follows you until the end, making it a balanced beer considering it’s IBU-level. It’s a lovely beer, but I would like it a bit drier.
