Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 140+ IBU

English: It is hardly a secret that we at Amager Bryghus have a special love towards Imperial Stouts - the finest and most noble of all beer types. Actually, at the brewery we are at all times developing new variants of this noble drink. As always, we tend to add more of everything, which is also the case with this beer: it took no less than eight different malts to three types of hops, and we are especially proud to present the king of them all; Zeus. Amager Imperial Stout is a beer as black as the original sin itself, topped by the most dense and creamy light brown head. Clear notes of coffee and chocolate, but they appear from the malt exclusively, whereas the scent is rich of vanilla. In all regards Amager Imperial Stout is an extreme beer for the demanding and experienced beer lover, who is not afraid of challenging his senses.
Bitterness: 140+ IBU

Bottle, 50cl. Beerfestival Aarhus 2008. Pours a pitch black beer, with a creamy beige head. Good lacing. The aroma is strong with chocolate and hops, notes of smoke. The flavor i roasted, chocolate and hoppy. Has notes of alcohol. Overall a very nice Imperial Stout.

Bottle, #66. Immediately after popping the cap, aromas of sweet chocolate and coffee escapes the bottle, along with a touch of vanilla. The beer pours black, with a thick, dense tan head leaving nice lacings. When examining the aroma more thoroughly, it confirms the first impression of chocolate, coffee, sweetness and some vanilla. Dark malts and hoppy aromas blend nicely in. Even though it’s quite sweet, it has a dryness in the mouth, along with some warmth from the alcohol. Sure full-bodied, and there’s lots of flavors in it, sugar, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, some vanilla, piney hops and lots of hoppy bitterness coming stronger and stronger towards the very end. Coffee-like bitterness and sweetness also follows you until the end, making it a balanced beer considering it’s IBU-level. It’s a lovely beer, but I would like it a bit drier. (081005)

500 ml bottle - thanks to after4ever for sharing; jet black with thin tan head; smooth aromas of chocolate and candy; sweet and rich; drinks a little fizzy at first as it is a little hot on the lips; very smooth going down though; flavors of rich coffee, but not in your face like some other coffee stouts; very dry finish; light texture; lots of subtleties here and quite tasty

Bottle at Nnudds tasting. Poured Pitch black with a big creamy longlasting brown head. Doesnt get better than this! Somewhat hoppy aroma with roasted malts and coffee. Taste is also pretty hoppy with espresso notes and the roasted malts to finish it off. Soft and creamy mouthfeel. Wonderfull Impy Stout.

[Sampled with the trio: Svoger, Svogergylp and Foged at EBF, 2008.] I wanna have thisone again, because it was late at night at EBF before I tasted it. Notes of strong coffee, chocolate, nice vanilla, enormous hop amounts, some citrus and a lovely dry finish. MORE!
