2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle:   Dirty caramel, dark and muddy, thin sudsy off-white head, sparce lacing.   Combination cocoa, whole
wheat breadiness, tootsie roll, and grape popsicle on the nose.   Interesting...   Malty, slightly sweet, very musty,
tootsie roll and grape popsicle on the spot.   Seems to have diminished from what I would gather is a doppelbock.
Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Pale maltiness and that last bit of a grape popsicle, you know as you get to the wooden
stick... yeah, that lingers.   Hmmm, probably shouldnt have waited 2 years on this one.   Not bad, just likely past

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500 mL bottle courtesy of Butters at the 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 3/19/11. Pours a hazy reddish color with a thin tan head that fades quickly. Not much lacing. Aroma of toffee, coconut, leafy hops, nutty notes, candied fruits, a bit of a cheesy note. The taste is bitter hops. Some toffeeish notes, chocolate, nutty notes. Medium bodied. Seems a bit past its prime, which is a shame as I have a bottle at home.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Barley wine aroma to it, strong malts with alcohol presence. The flavor is sort of a dubbel/barley wine mix, leaning more to the dubbel style. Overall its pretty good, but barley wines aren’t a favorite style of mine, otherwise it’d rate higher.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. It pours a clear, reddish brown body and a small, beige head. The aroma has dried fruits, a pleasant hoppyness, some alcohol and anise, as well as roasted malts. It’s dry, smooth, full-bodied and slighlty warming, with flavors of dried fruit, some yeast and roasted malts and caramel. Dry finish with a spiced touch. A nice beer that starts a bit boring, but after a few sips it turns out very well. 101229
