4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 thewolf (9992) - Kolding, DENMARK - SEP 20, 2008
Tap @ EBF, 2008, Carlsberg.
Pours an impressive clear ruby red with a giant, creamy, yellowish head. Super lacing and great duration. A much better look than Hr. Papsø. Aroma is vinious, yeast, light spiciness. Good dried fruits go extremely well with the yeast, giving a light acidic edge. Wonderful, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasantly warming, light spicy, clear ginger presence, vanilla, yeast, raisins. A wonderful combination of flavours that are mellowed out stunningly by the high alcohol. One that never interferes. Super brilliant beer - why, oh why, was this not bottled??
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 yngwie (10798) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - DEC 30, 2008
On tap at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Served by the little grumpy man. A hazy orange-brown beer with a small beige head. Wonderfully balanced citrusy and piney hops in the aroma, where malty sweetness and some alcohol is the hops counterpart. Citrus, pinecones, some alcohol, lots of sugars and a nice malty touch in the mouth. Full-bodied and almost astringent bitter, finishing with a lasting pine flavor. Really lovely. (080913)

Tap at EBF: Hazy to muddy amber with a small white head. Nose is vinous & has loads of dark fruits & malts. Sticky - some hops, alcohol & yeast. Complex & still an amazing drinkability. Alcohol well hidden for sure. Full bodied & a long end! A brilliant Quadrupel!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Grovlam (4137) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 17, 2008
[EBF @ Copenhagen, September 2008] Huge beige and lovely creamy head that really lasted. Excellent display of lacework. Somewhat hazy dark amber color. Aroma of heavy dried fruit, mild hoppy notes came also across that was much more mellow in Hr. Papsø. Over the palate came toffee, yeast, mild toasted malt and again lots of fruity notes with a hint of floral bitterness. Quite full bodied with an average carbonation and alcoholic thick texture. Moderated to heavy sweet fruity flavor with mild bitterness. Lingering thick fruity and warming alcoholic finish. No way as complex as Hr. Papsø, but still a nice take on a Quad.

Draught. Deep amber bodied with a thick off white head. Aroma is raisins, plum, prune and barley. No doubt about the bourbon in the flavour. Then comes lots of malt, caramel, sweet fruit and barley. Creamy texture. Very nice.

Draught@Københavnske Øldage 2009. Cloudy, reddish brown body with a thin offwhite head on top. Strong grainy malt aroma with caramel notes, backed by a citrus fruity hoppiness and a whiff of alcohol. Sweet-flavored, caramel and barley. Moderate fruitiness, distinct earthy and piny hop bitterness. Full-bodied, soft and warming. Lasting bitter-sweet finish. I like it a lot.
