Bottle. Pours black with a medium sized tan head with excellent lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, bourbon, vanilla and licorice notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and with bitter notes. Full bodied, oily to creamy texture and soft carb. An excellent Impy.

Bottle received in a trade with BenH. Pours a crude black with a thick mocha head which hangs around. Aroma is bourbon, roast malts, coffee, vanilla and slight soy. Taste is slight coffee, roasty, hazelnuts, a hint of booziness in the form of chocolate liqueurs and vanilla. The finish is long and sweetness reminiscent of bourbon and cocoa. Full bodied with a thick mouthfeel.

Nice looking black pour with light brown head. Aroma is really boozy with some soy, hazelnut, bourbon, and cocoa. Taste is nutty sweet and boozy. Nowhere near the regular version. Coffee is muted.

Bottle at home. Poured mostly black with a beige head. Aromas of coffee and bourbon. Tasted slightly dark chocolate and coffee with a hint of bourbon on the finish. A bit disappointed, as I’ve had each of the base beers. I felt it was quite thin in comparison as to its parts.

Bottle poured into a snifter. Minimal head with some lacing. Aroma is mostly roasted malt, coffee and alcohol. Taste is predominantly coffee and roasted malt with a lingering alcohol burn. Decent barrel aged coffee stout, but not nearly best in style.

500ml bottle, pours black with a creamy off white head. Aroma is chocolate malt, coffee, vanilla, with mild bourbon oak notes coming through. Finishes dry and perfectly balanced, so drinkable with no unpleasant notes or alcohol. Medium body with creamy texture. Soft carbonation. A big beer.

[ Bottle ][ 500mL ][ El Cerrito Liquor Corona ][ $17 ][ Snifter ][ 12.26.14 ]
>> Clear sepia pour, healthy low foam. Excellent nougat, black pepper, cedar, oak, piney hop nose...Black IPA like with licorice, toasted oak, burnt forest floor. Taste is bitter, extremely well balanced hop content, pine, oak, dark chocolate, turbinado sugar, no bourbon, mild warming, toasted oak. Just a touch of oak vanillin, but no bourbon character for better or worse. Just a well made beer.
