When i bought this, i thought it was beer geek brunch weasel. I cant be the only one that made that mistake. Aroma is a little weak. Not bad, just weak. Sweet maltiness, light coffee, not much else. Pours a nice dark brown color with medium sized tan head. I was expecting pitch black, but I guess not all stouts have to be that way. The taste is smooth and unassuming up front with a sharp hop and coffee bitterness that hits you at the end. ABV is very well hidden. Palate is nice and smooth, could be a little thicker. This is basically watered down brunch weasel. Spring for the real thing (it costs about the same), don't get fooled like I did. This is not a bad beer, but not world class by any means.

Sampled at Studio one with Anna (palindrome). Nice full notes of roasted and dark chocolate malt. Hints of oats, dry almost baking chocolate finish. I loved it.

The taste is absolutely divine. Natural coffeee flavor blends in perfectly. Light carbonation for soft body. Ultra easy drinking.

(Bottle) Black colour with lasting, dense, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, dark chocolate, cacao, black rye bread and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with strong black coffee, cacao, liquorice, dark chocolate, spices (cinnamon, anise) and a slightly vinous finish with a generous coffee bitterness. Full body, with a touch of sweetness. Excellent imperial stout with a generous coffee and cacao character, and a slight alcohol warmth. Lovely beer in excellent balance.

Purchased March 2015 and enjoyed October 19, 2015 in a MadTree tulip/snifter. It is time to clear out some of my stouts. I’ve had Brunch Weasel and Hr Frederiksen is in my fridge, let’s see how this goes. Look - Very little head. There was a ring for seconds that faded to nothing. Dark brown. No lacing. What head was there is tan. Smell - Coffee. Char. Bitter hop. Light booze. Strawberry. Dark fruit. Tootsie roll. Chocolate. Vanilla. Taste - Bitter. Burnt sugar. Chocolate. Coffee. Char. I expect to have sediment at the bottom of this bottle. Feel - Creamy. Slightly watery. Not overly carbonated but not flat. Overall - Give me Brunch Weasel by itself. Is it possible I waited too long on this? I am not looking forward to Hr by itself. Bitter.

Bottle. Pours a thick black with a khaki head. Messy lacing left behind after a few sips. Smells of roasted malts, alcohol, licorice, some chocolate. Taste is of roasted malts, chocolate, fudge. Full bodied and thick with well below average carbonation. Lightly bitter and dry finish.

On tap @ Csakajósör - Opaque black colour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of burnt breadcrust, roasted coffee, chocolate, hop stay in background. Coffee and caramel flavours are strong beside the roasted malt character and ash aftertaste. The body is medium, but too thin for an imperial stout, average carbonation and too dry finish. Some red fruit taste and alcohol warmth can be noted. There is some astringency from the excessive roasted malt usage. Its not my favourite, but overall its a nice brew.

Poured into a teku showing pitch black and sparse dark black foam around the edges. The nose shows a mix of black sugar, light caramel, light bourbon, and hints of adzuki bean. The palate is very light bodied and evenly carbonated. First flavors on the palate show a smokiness from the roasted malts, that deepens as it warms on the palate. More flavors of light bourbon and caramel appear. The finish shows practically no bitterness anywhere from anything. The same light bourbon flavors linger on the end. This is meant to be enjoyed a moderate place. Quite nice!

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: pours black with a tan head. Aroma is a ton of coffee with dark bitter and fruity chocolate and almoat no booze. Taste is moderately bitter. Low sweetness. Highly burned. No soy sauce. Not too heavy body. Quite good. But, in fairness, I seldom crave this beer or the style of heavily burnt stouts.
