Bottle. Pours out ina an opaque black colour with a creamy tan colored head. Rich aroma of black chocolate, soy sauce, licorice, salt, espresso, black pepper and caramelized sugar. Full-bodied with strong roasted, almost burnt notes of espresso, black chocolate, soy sauce, licorice roots, ashes and mild pine. Long bittersweet finish of burnt malt, espresso, milky chocolate and nut-shells.

The beer is black with dark brown at the edges. Small beige head. Fades to a light dusting of little bubbles quickly. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, roast, caramel, mild smoke and an interesting brine note. Nice sweet milky coffee flavor. Very pleasant. The smokey, briny twist gives the beer character. Otherwise, it’s more restrained than expected. Similarly, that salty smoke flavor comes out pretty strong in the taste. Wonderful coffee and stout flavors, as well. Fairly sweet but finishes with enough coffee and roast bitterness to reign things in. Wonderfully creamy coffee flavor. Medium acidity, a bit higher than expected though it may seem like more due to the light smoke. Creamy but not super thick mouthfeel. Very tasty but not mind blowing.

"Bottle is a Mikkeller bottle, not Amager. Pretty much what you’d expect if you’ve had both of the blended beers. A hybrid from the dry roasty goodness that is Hr Frederiksen and the awesome coffee poo punch that is beer geek brunch (one of my very favorite beers). As with both of those, this is dangerously drinkable for a double digit abv beer. Ridiculously smooth. More balanced than either of the others, but I definitely prefer BGBW, as good as this was."

Vestergaard (372) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - SEP 1, 2014
Bottle from the newer batch. Pours pitch black, with a dense, nut brown head. Aroma has bitter, roasted coffee, fruity espresso, and the coffee profile might overall be pretty fruity and light roasted. Some dark, dried fruits here as well. Taste again has these more roasted notes, but it seems to come from the malts. Strong, dark chocolate and licorice flavors and bitterness, fruity espresso and a hint of dried plums and dates. Medium high carbonation and a full, creamy body.

On tap at Mikkeller SF. Pours a solid black with a foamy brown head. It has a rich aroma of coffee and baking chocolate. The flavor is malty chocolate up front quickly leading to a strong, bitter coffee finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16.9 oz bottle, Keith Shore label. Dark brown with a spongy tan head. Nose is molasses, coffee with cream and woody oats. Silky medium body with a tang and a tickle. Taste is oatmeal and coffee, hints of black grapes and brown sugar. Finishes with inky dark roast.

Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Aromas of espresso, dark chocolate and a touch of vanilla. Nice and rich. Taste is also really rich, lots of chocolate, quality espresso with cream. Really strong on the coffee. Quite sweet initially but transitions quite starkly to strong bitterness in the finish. Nice slick and creamy full bodied mouthfeel. Great imperial stout.
