COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Too many cooks will spoil the soup but three seems to be just right. Dark, full bodied and full flavoured. Smoky, salty, sweet and bitter, this beer is definitely all over the place and you can tell everyone wanted to have their say, but I think it all comes together in the end. And it’s nice to drink a really good porter from Amager again after that horrendous Colocoff fiasco (haven’t reviewed that one though, as I’m hopping I just got a bad bottle).

Bottle. Black pour, thick tan head. Aroma is very roasty, but complex and full of character, almost without pure burnt malts, but more smoked and fresh coffee beans. Some clear floral hop presence. Flavor is very full, sweet sugary roasted malts, fresh bitter spicy floral hops, coffee, smoked and very thick bodied. Great brew.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2012 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a vicious black with a large tan head which immediately dies down leaving a tan ring around the top and some very nice spider legs down the glass. Aroma is full of cocoa nibs and charred wood. As it warms, some liquorice notes come out. Slight smoke and ash mingle with chocolate and liquorice in the taste. Very balanced and the smoke doesn’t overpower any of the other flavours. Fantastic full mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Lingers for a long time. Fantastic beer. Everything is perfectly balanced and unlike some other smoked beers, the smokey note isn’t too dominant. Highly reccommended

Pitch black color, huge brown head. Sweet, malty, roasted scent. Malty, very dry and bitter, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted taste. Moussy mouthfeel, high bitterness. Green pepper aftertaste.
Very very nice for a few sips, finished the bottle split two ways, but was almost too much, wouldn’t want a full bottle for myself, gets too intense.

Bottle kindly shared by beer pal Ivar at local tasting. Pours black with a creamy small brown head leaving excellent lacing. Milky roasted, spicy, plenty of Turkish coffee, dried dark fruits and dark chocolate on the nose. Smoked, roasted notes, liquorice and bitterness. Smooth to drink and full bodied leaving a dry tongue and mild roasted notes and spices during a long enjoyable finish..
