COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English (from Google translate): Take a good thing and make it even better - that is the philosophy behind the Amager MurpHill. The good thing is our more than solid Amager Rugporter (Rye Porter), which we have aged in bourbon casks. Here it has been around 6 months, which has turned an already soft rye porter with pleasant hints of vanilla, wood, and of course warm bourbon. If you wonder about the name, we can reveal that this beer is named after two of the most talented American brewers Shaun Hill and Mike Murphy, who with their presence in this country has enriched Danish brewing culture in incredible degree. Shaun and Mike are the masterminds behind our Rye Porter / MurpHill project, and it is with absolute pride that this beer is named in their honor.

Bottle. Body-translucent with a medium film of bubbles and a thick ring of bubbles. Nose-fresh paint, raw. Taste-light barrel aged notes, buttery, boozy, coffee, buttery, really comes out up front, cold acrid coffee sweetness. Very nice.

Bottled 500ml. -Courtesy of and great thx to Papsoe for sending me a bunch of Amager beers to celebrate my 5K milestone. Black coloured, small brown head, peaty nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and light peaty with notes of licorice and alcohol. Some traces of bourbon barrel in the finish. Another very good dark beer from Amager.

Holy s.... bring on the rare, the retired and hopefully, the extremely exciting (need I say who sent this to us?). My GF noted the ugly label... and how we were excited about it anyway. Imagine that :D. Batch 122, guessed correctly it’s probably from 2009, go me! Anywaaaay. Black, small tan head. Dusty, creamy nose, raisins and peat. Sticky, heavy... Humm. Taste... caramel, raisins, dry, slightly salty, light plastic, very light burn... light... something I can’t read. The barrel can be felt, but it’s relatively 1-dimensional. Very, very light coffee. Ah, dunno, not my type, but a solid beer in any case.

Bottle: Batch 122: Very nice brown head, disappears slow and leaves a half open sticky brown lacing on top of a black colored beer and some on the glass. Smell is a nice mix of bourbon, roast and vanilla, some light liquorice notes, some wood tones and a hint of darker chocolate. Good roasted barleys malts, coffee and some roasted hebs, lots of roast, some light rubber tones which seems to be pushed into the background because of all the roast. Tastes is a good mix of roasted barleys, whiskey, bourbon,  burnt rubber (balloon), good bitter, bitter herbs, soya, and something light salty. Aftertaste of bitter tones, light dry, roasted coffee and barley malts, some roasted hay and grass, roast, some whiskey notes and a hint of spices. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and a creamy oily texture. Nice and well balanced, but a bit of a strange beer. Complex in the beginning with the nice bourbon nose and flavours, than the beer becomes a bit flat and it seems to loose it’s complexity a bit, being mostly a regular imperial porter and then after a while it gets a bit more bolder with some thicker liquorice tones. Seldom did I have a beer with such a live in the glass. Very strange but absolutely nice.

Very dark brown, tan head. Impressive aroma, combining coffee cream and punchy hops. Great malty base as well, dark candy sugar. Strong taste as well, rich, oily, sticky. But with great hop backup. Very nice, great flavour. (At the De Molen tasting)
