Bottle: Batch 100: Thank you kindly sir Lassem! A good and pretty vast medium brown head, changes slow into a good brown lacing, on top of a black beer. Smell roasted coffee, lots of coffee,  roasted (almost burned) malts, soft smooth liquorice, roasted wood, some toffee and alcohol all blended in a good mix. After a while the smell gets even better: even some dark fruits, dark sweet, flowers and peat that comes free. Taste coffee, roasted wood, good bitter, liquorice wood, roasted coffee, roasted/buned oak, earth, light vanilla, peat, something light light whiskey-a-like and spices (guess it’s the alcohol). The alcohol is present but in a good way, it spices up the beer and the sweetness seems to blend/vanish perfectly into a more spiced coffee bitter imperial stout.  Good bitter coffee light whiskey ish aftertaste. Low carbo, soft light dry mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. A damn good, spicy and smooth imperial stout.

37.5 cl bottle. Dark brown with tan froth. Nose is tar, licorice, chocolate mint and smoke. Medium to full body, oily with a buzz and a tang. Taste is green plum, chocolate, cognac, espresso and lime. Almost vinous. A potent brew that walks the line between burnt and sweet reminding me more of a Foreign Stout.

[375ml bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk] Pours very black with a cream-coloured fluffy head. Quite an odd bourbon nose with some coffee, tobacco and dark malts. Oaky on the palate, some general woodiness to match the bourbon, and some sourness as well. Hefty alcohol finish. I’m not a fan of bourbon aged beers, I found this one pretty strange even considering – although with only 120 bottles made, certainly lucky to try some [12032011]

bottle at cgarvieuk - 12 Mar 2011 dark brown/black w/ thick tan head can’t understand the label but this definitely smells like a bourbon barrel beer. some rich chocolate and sweet alcohol/bourbon med/thin body and mildly fizzy wow, i wasn’t ready for the oaky taste in this beer. i’ve never had a beer w/ this much and this distinct oak. i don’t really find the bourbon in the flavour. there is some kind of woody taste that i love, that i recognize, but that i can’t place. of course, once i realized this was a bourbon STOUT that changes things. i certainly thin bourbon goes better with a barley wine but i like the aroma of bourbon on this and the stouty woody taste

Black with a lasting tan head. Aroma of caramel, dark chocolate and vanilla with a touch of cold coffee. Dark and roasted flavour with dark chocolate, coffee and charcoal along with a hint of bourbon oak. A bit of tannic acidity in the finish
