3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Svesse (5197) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAR 14, 2013
(Bottle) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with black coffee, liquorice, chocolate, cacao and a touch of port wine. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, strong black coffee, cacao, oak wood, ashes and a fairly dry finish with a touch of port wine. Slightly sharp wood character. Almost full body, with a certain roasty bitterness. A bit different, but very nice.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ibrew2or3 (5777) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Bottle share courtesy of sebletitje. The bottle pours with a very dark body that supports a nice looking mocha head of foam. The aroma has rye bread to almost mild spicy oak, brown sugar sweetened oatmeal cereal and a modest degree of boozy spirits with kind of a red wine twang going on. The taste is rich and deep with dark roasted malts, malty body thickness, creaminess and then running into boozy barrel and almost a red wine like booze note. The red wine taste sometimes, oddly enough, comes across as a mix of spicy wood and baker’s chocolate nuanced by a faint grape flavor. On the palate this comes across as a big beer. This rates a "yum" from me!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sebletitje (5416) - Enghien, BELGIUM - FEB 25, 2013
37.5cl bottle from Systembolaget, Göteborg. Batch 245, BB 2022.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 OleR (4247) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 12, 2013
0.375 corked and wired champagne bottle. A shade away from entirely black. Firm, lightly tanned head. Strong barrel notes hit the nose first, then a whiff of fortified wine, and tones of coffee-scented dark malts. Big body, fairly soft in the mouth. Vinous, roasty and distinctly bitter. Coffe, licorice and some wooden tones. Warm, nicely bitter finish. Good stuff.

17th March 2012 Opaque black beer, good tan head. Softish semi dry palate. Rich malt - silky and barleywine like. Small amounts of roast and licorice. Nicely joined up red berry fruits from the Port Barrel, integrated very well indeed. Trace of hops before the semi dry finish. Lovely!
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Stew41 (1572) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - JAN 12, 2013
Incredibly thick palate structure although surprisingly the flavours don’t really belt you in the face. Can almost be passed off as some sort of bitter PX! I wish I could read the commercial descriptor as I bet there’s some interesting beer making techniques going on. Heavy red wine-like aromas lead into some rich cooked fruits and some tangy minerals. Very good really and unique palate structure.
