Sample @ RBWG Grand Tasting. Brown pour with a small head. Fire pit ash, robust licorice and anise character. The taste isn’t really my thing. More anise. Some chocolate. Hints of something like ginger. Full body, soft carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Dark brown close to black with a medium sized light brown head, good retention and lace. Has noticeable port in the nose, but the flavour is a different story. Lots of salty liquorice, tarmac, light burnt malt, warming alcohol, wood, dry port wine, light ash. Full body, oily/light sticky texture, soft carbonation, medium/heavy sweet and bitter and quite salty. Very flavourful and demanding, but has a nice texture and just when it’s about to get too rough it mellows out a bit. One of a kind.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2014 RBWG Grand Tasting.
Dark brown pour with an off-white head.
Aroma has sweet malts, dark dried fruits, alcohol.
The flavor is sweet and complex but there is a vinous sourness that detracts a bit.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sample at RBWG. Pours a cola brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, cocoa, sweet notes, light herbal character, slightly tart, mild spice with a hint of vanilla. Interesting combination of nose and flavor, but something didn’t completely click for me.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark reddish-brown; a bit murky.
Moderately strong aroma flowed but a very very strong flavor.
Dark fruits, coffee, cherries, dark chocolate. Really high complexity.
Near chewy body.
Hmmm, deScription sounds good but I found this to be too extreme.
