4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Garlic_of_Doom (192) - Bjärred, SWEDEN - DEC 22, 2012
Bottle from Systembolaget.
Pours dark brown with some red hues, no head to talk about.
Wood, vanilla and vinous aroma in large amounts hits the nose, followed by some chocolate. roasted malt and liquorice.
Taste is dry, has chocolate, red berries, roasted malt, wood, some warming alcohol at the end.
After taste is long, dry, roasted and a bit bitter.
Mouthfeel is quite thick and dry, the thick feel probably comes from the oats. Medium carbonation, the bubbles are tiny and really nice to look at.
Very interesting porter, definitely one of the better ones I’ve had.

375ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a reddish tint and a thin tan head. Aroma is faint but of vanilla, oak, roasted malts and port.
Medium to full body, creamy, low carbonation.
Flavor is smoke, roast, oatmeal, vanilla and oak with alcohol notes. Starts quite sweet before finishing bitter and dry.
Overall nice but lacks a little complexity and roundness.

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours almost black with a thin tanned head. Smells of roasted malts, coffee, port and oak; alot of dark sins in here. Taste is medium sweet, quite roasty, lots of coffee, some chocolate and port, some booze. Moderate bitter, coffee and earthy hops. A fantastic brew. The port is very well integrated, very nice complex aromas and flavors

0.375 l bottle from Copenhagen. Black color. Roasty and vinous aroma with raisins, tobacco, cocoa and red wine. Sweet roasty salty licorice flavor with charcoal, oak, red wine and raisins. Full body, some woodiness in palate but not too oaky. Quite unique taste, plenty of salty licorice like in some couch medicines I had as a kid.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 nimbleprop (2993) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - OCT 6, 2012
375ml bottle pours an opaque deep brown with some lacing white head. Nose is nice, but a bit weird; nutty, malty, toasted bread, light vanilla, some light rubber, something that reminds me of burning plastic. Flavor is sweet, malty, crackers, heavy molasses, some smoke, almost like liquid smoke, licorice, brown sugar. Full bodied, sweet finish. Decent, but Amager’s porters are so good that I expected a bit more.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Habanero (1671) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK - OCT 2, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2013 Bottled. Pours opaque black with a large tan head. Excellent lacing. Nose of roasted malts, vanilla, licorice and port.
Sweet flavor of roasted malts, licorice, chocolate, prunes, raisins, vanilla notes and again port.
Medium to full bodied, oily texture and flat to soft carbonation. More dry finish with alcohol notes. Again a great brew from Amager.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown to black with a creamy, pale brown head. The aroma holds aggressive/peppery roast, vinous/dark fruity port, vanilla and coconut up front with undertones of milk chocolate, salt liquorice, tar, black currant, bubble-gum, brown sugar, caramel and oatmeal. The flavour is medium sweet, medium bitter and tiny sour with notes of dark fruit, port/oak, complex roast and friendly hops. The mouthfeel is smooth, round, light stick and tiny numbing with a light carbonation. Vinous, woodsy, caramelly and milky finish. Medium to full bodied.

Smpled from bottle @ Cardinal. A black body with a moderate sized, dense beige head. A fine roasted aroma with dark malt, coffee, fruit and hint of alcohol. Pleasant flavor of soft, sweet, roasted malt, coffee, fruit, oak, bitterness and warming alcohol. Full body with a solid aftertaste. Complex and really nice.
