COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

375ml bottle pours an opaque deep brown with some lacing white head. Nose is nice, but a bit weird; nutty, malty, toasted bread, light vanilla, some light rubber, something that reminds me of burning plastic. Flavor is sweet, malty, crackers, heavy molasses, some smoke, almost like liquid smoke, licorice, brown sugar. Full bodied, sweet finish. Decent, but Amager’s porters are so good that I expected a bit more.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2013 Bottled. Pours opaque black with a large tan head. Excellent lacing. Nose of roasted malts, vanilla, licorice and port. Sweet flavor of roasted malts, licorice, chocolate, prunes, raisins, vanilla notes and again port. Medium to full bodied, oily texture and flat to soft carbonation. More dry finish with alcohol notes. Again a great brew from Amager.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown to black with a creamy, pale brown head. The aroma holds aggressive/peppery roast, vinous/dark fruity port, vanilla and coconut up front with undertones of milk chocolate, salt liquorice, tar, black currant, bubble-gum, brown sugar, caramel and oatmeal. The flavour is medium sweet, medium bitter and tiny sour with notes of dark fruit, port/oak, complex roast and friendly hops. The mouthfeel is smooth, round, light stick and tiny numbing with a light carbonation. Vinous, woodsy, caramelly and milky finish. Medium to full bodied.

Smpled from bottle @ Cardinal. A black body with a moderate sized, dense beige head. A fine roasted aroma with dark malt, coffee, fruit and hint of alcohol. Pleasant flavor of soft, sweet, roasted malt, coffee, fruit, oak, bitterness and warming alcohol. Full body with a solid aftertaste. Complex and really nice.

Bottle from Systembolaget, bought in May 2012. Black with a medium brownish head. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, oak and some salt. The taste was heavy and not elegant. Vinous with licorice, ash, roasted malt and salt. Drinkable but a bit tough in the long run.

Shared bottle at Cardinal. Pours a black body with a small light brown head leaving fair lacing. Port, roasted notes, liquorice and tobacco on the nose and faint barrel notes. Salty liquorice that lasts throughout the mouth. port notes, roasted, fruity flavors with a subdued sweetness. The beer is full bodied and smooth; it grows and fills the mouth in a most pleasant way.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
