COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

375ml bottle. Pours pitch black, with a thick brown head. Dense, complex aroma, lots of roasted malt, toffee, caramel, hops, wood, vanilla, dried fruits, nuts, spices, tobacco, prunes. Semi-sweet, full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Compact taste, heavily roasted, malty, chocolate, espresso beans, licorice, tobacco, smoke, wood, vanilla, ashes, prunes, spices, cinnamon. Very smooth and well balanced, the sweetish Port character helps to mellow the tannins out. Sweet! (2012-03-18)

(37.5 cl bottle from Amager Bryghus; Batch 245) Pours black with frothy, toffee head. Impressive retention and lace. Aroma has oak, vanilla and raisin. Smooth and pleasant. Creamy texture, softly carbonated, full-bodied with a subdued, roasted finish complemented by oak and raisin notes. Taste is dark and roasted with a mild bitterness and a hint of acidity covered well by the aroma. Alcohol is well hidden. Surprisingly drinkable. The barrel maturation has really rounded off the character of this beer. Very recommendable!

375 ml green corked and caged bottle courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott!) poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, carmel, dried fruit, light vanilla and light oak. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of milk chocolate, coffee, light roastiness and light smoke with a smooth lingering chocolate finish.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours pitch black as a winters night with a thick and creamy HUGE beige head leaving quite some lacework. The nose is surprisingly subtle, the roast is there but it’s rounded by the port barrel that smoothen things out and leaves mainly...vanilla! Medium-bodied with a very soft and smooth mouthfeel, subtle roast, very chocolatey and extremely minerally - perhaps even salty. Some late malt bitterness slowly builds op. Nice alright, but it doesn’t REALLY have all that much Port character. 101211
