3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TBone (9405) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 31, 2009
Bottled (Pikkulintu, batch #153).
Dark brown color, a bit hazy, steady beige head, lace. Sweaty hoppy nose. Hops, licorice, yes, a lot of different hops (23 of them). Long licorice-hoppy aftertaste. Did I mention bitterness?
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Plovmand (4929) - Helsinge, DENMARK - JUL 21, 2009
Bottle. Pours hazy dark amber with a creamy long lasting off white (and do I catch light green) head. Flowery and extremely hoppy aroma. Citrus, grass, grapefruit, herbal stuff, caramel, orange and light liqorice. Super bitter flavour with a light roastyness. For specific notes see aroma. This was some extreme beer and Im sure I will catch hops sweat before the bottle is finished.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 lassem (639) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 19, 2009
Bottle 50 cl. The Pour has the colour of dark honey or redish Scandinavian amber. The head is tanned with a yellowish colour and is skyrising. The nose is sweet and with caramel and chocolate?, vanilla and some dark hoppy notes. The taste is bitter, bitter and full of taste. There is some laqurice, again some vanilla fudge and chocolate. The hops is imposible to identified due to the amount. Its biting your lipps and tounge with its palate. I remember the Hop Juice from Mikkeller as way more bitter though..but yes this one is a bitter bastard.
I dont think that you can describe this one with a word like "balanced". I cant find my way round it and up a bit lost and confused - but still I kinda like it...maybe for the fun of the fooling around with plenty of hops?? The finish is strong and bitter with alcohol notes
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 brentfeesh (1191) - Gadsden, Alabama, USA - JUL 14, 2009
Sampled at Noog 5. Thanks for the trade Papsoe! Hazy amber pour with a healthy head. Quite a spicy aroma with a bit of vegetation. And it might not be vegetation exactly, I just seem to detect a note of whatever this is in many brews from Denmark. Spicy flavor as well. Pepper, wood, and a strong dry noble hop presence. Touch of roasted chocolate malt that lends sweetness without actually being sweet. Alcohol is present. Dry mouth feel. Full bodied. Enjoyable and interesting.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Maria (8571) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUL 13, 2009
The color is dark red-brown and the head is huge, creamy and lasting. The aroma has lots of hops with a zillion different notes, roasted malt and caramel. The flavour has a pleasant sweetness and notes of roasted malt, caramel, spruce, mange, grapefruit, licorice and a lot of other nice notes before I arrive at the end, where I am met by a dry, nice bitterness. Yet another nice beer from Amager.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 trapez (1350) - Hilleroed, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2009
Bottle. Strong hops aroma with flowers and grass. Clody light brown colour with huge beige head. As expected, nice bitter flavour, although not so bitter that anything else cannot be tasted, despite the immensely high IBU. Also some sweetness. Absolutely enjoyable.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Borresteijn (2756) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 11, 2009
On tap at In de Wildeman as Imperial Brown Ale, 9% ABV. I’m pretty sure, seen all the descriptions here and considering the ABV, that this is the right beer. Hazy orange colour, dense white head. Aroma of hops, hops, hops and tangerine. Flavour is hoppy, grapefruit, citrus, slightly malty, very bitter. Bitter hoppy finish, full bodied. I guess they mixed up the barrels, because this was nowhere near a brown ale, this was a very good DIPA.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 lithy (2995) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 8, 2009
Noogfest High 5. Sample from a bottle thanks to brentfeesh. Dark red-brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is celery, caramel, citrus hoppy. Taste is caramel, fruity, toffee, vegetal, celery. The Danes must love that celery note, I don’t.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 6, 2009
A Mes rate. Bottle at the Weekend of Tarts After Tasting. A good looking cloudy amber with a decent off white head. A mad, bad and frankly, off its tits beer. Full of sweaty socks. Incredible hop complexity. Big sting from the booze and very bitter green stuff. The malt is almost impossible to detect, so huge are the twenty three types of hops. Usually this sort of thing would decent into an over the top mess. Amager are so good, somehow they have made it work really well. One for the hop heads, that’s for sure.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 heemer77 (4792) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUL 6, 2009
I had this one at Noogfest High 5. The body was cloudy brown with an off white head. The aroma was strong with orange and dry wood. There was also some musk. The taste was bitter green wood with some soapy notes. There was just a hint of the grapefruit. Bitter and dry.
