3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ungstrup (23917) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - APR 18, 2009
Draft. A hazy amber beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet matly with very a perfumated hop character - lots of things going on there. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, bread, fruit, and lots of hops in a very complex undescribable way, leading to a very bitter finish.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Papsoe (22946) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 2, 2009
Bottle 50 cl. Pours a hazy and opaque amber golden with a dense and creamy beige head. Rather intense aroma of burned caramel and fat, fat oily hoppiness. Quite full-bodied with a solid and sweet malt base combined with the usual light Amager ashiness - is it the minerals in the tap water? But overwhelmingly dominated by a massive and slightly hash bitterness from the extreme hop addition. Fuck this a hophead’s dream. 050209
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 yespr (22161) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAR 14, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2009 50 cL bottle. Pours hazy and almost amber to deep orange with a creamy, dense and light orange head. Aroma is distinct dense hoppy yet also slight breadish malty with a light sweetness. Flavour has the same: overload of hops, all the elements you know: citrus, grapefruit, peaches, etc - yet for this new version a more pronounced sweet and breadish malt base. Full bodied and with a very wellhidden alcohol content.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - SEP 27, 2009
2009-09-21, batch 153, parallel tasting with the original Rated XX Dark amber color; big creamy head, with better retention. The aroma at first shows chocolate and cocoa, then as expected fruity hops, but everything resulting in a rather soapy and spicy feeling; very light manure too, in the end. Strong body; caramel flavor, dark caramel, with a feeling of rhubarb candies, a bit minty; strong bitterness; behind the dark caramel some resins and noble hop oils can be noticed, but it’s very chaotic. The palate is too harsh and bitter for my mouth, probably also in combination with some bitterness from the dark malts. Confusing.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 KimJohansen (10340) - Copenhagen V, DENMARK - MAR 31, 2009
UPDATED: MAY 7, 2009 Hazy amber with a huge beige creamy head. Aroma was very hoppy with a nice malt base, grapefruit and lemons. Extremely nice vinious and very hoppy flavour along with pine, grapefruit, toasted malt, spices, caramel, lemon and peachy notes. I even got a bit of pebber from those hops. Finished seriously bitter. This one simply gets better and better. A master piece!
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dedollewaitor (10290) - Odense, DENMARK - MAR 20, 2009
50cl bottle @ VinensVerden, Odense. Pours a hazy brown with a fabolous thick creamy white head and lacings. Nose is everything you can imagine of... hops. Citrus, pine, peach and floral. A thick malty backbone with caramel backing up the heavy hops. Like the 2008 it nearly gets ashy/dusty. Medium, smooth, slick, sticky and oily palate. Power violent, dry and bitter and I like this better than the 08!
