Rune (1809), Tromsø, Norway Jun 14, 2008 500ml bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Shared with Finn Arvid on a hotel room in Copenhagen. Hazy, dark brown body colour topped by beige head. Nice laceworks on the glass. Tangy hop aroma with the support of dark malts. Heavy hopped taste with liquorice notes, leading to a robust and lingering bitter ending. Full bodied and somehow too heavy to drink - but still a great brew (01.06.2008).
General_Gao (2575), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear red-orange color with an off white head. Smelled of mango, apricot, light caramel, orange, and a whiff of pine resin. Light to medium bodied with moderate to assertive bitterness. Lots of pineapple and pine in the flavor with less dry-ish toffee. Pretty good stuff. Mes_and_Sim (4476), Highgate, Greater London, England Sep 30, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle shared with Hog Town Harry. Thanks massively to Jan and Charlotte. Awesome red amber colour with a thin beige head that can be added to at will with a swill. I really like this. Big sweaty feet hop aroma with some nice oaky notes. good spice and some gorgeous peppery alcohol. A superb mix of grass and resin. The flavour is of an equally high quality. More peppery and spicy alcoholic hop juice with a truly excellent bready malt base. Stunning grassy notes and I thought it was surprisingly balanced for a double IPA. As bitter as you like in the finish with the warm alcohol notes being done to perfection. Really, really good. stobbe74 (254), Denmark Sep 29, 2008 Bottle, 50cl. Pours an unclear (yeast?) beer with a big firm offwhite head. The aroma is hoppy (earth, grass, spice) and slightly malt. The flavor is hops (grapefruit, grass, pine) with some sweetness. Complex flavor. The mouthfeel leaves a nice balanced bitterness. Good IIPA, but a little hyped. HogTownHarry (3273), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Sep 25, 2008 Bottle (500ml). Shared by Mes_and_Sim - thank you!. Deep amber pour, average head. Had a thick, resiny aroma - malt’s there, but you get the feeling this is a hop monster. The taste is bitter resin hops - I mean BITTER - it almost tastes gritty; the hops are completely back-of-the-tongue, and they just don’t go away. This is unbalanced as all hell - but I really like that. miketd (375), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Sep 22, 2008 Golden copper pour, beige head. Aroma is earthy, leather, fresh hops and toffee. Flavor is bitter and dry. Medium bodied.
