Blom (368), Odense, Denmark Aug 28, 2008 Dark hazy orange With a dense orange head. Hoppy (big surprise!) aroma, almost metallic, earthy and bloodlike with some caramel to make contrasts. The flavour starts out as grape and lemon and finishes almost harsh and burning - but it’s all good. A powerfull IPA proving that danes do know how to maky hoppy hapiness!
gunnfryd (2839), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 30, 2008 Bottle. Amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is very hoppy and fruity. Flavour is hop, grapefruit, malt ,fruit. Very nice beer. after4ever (1925), Brier, Washington, USA Nov 17, 2008 500, hand-labeled by the artist known as Maria. Thank you my dear! Slightly hazy medium amber. Light, somewhat moussy grayish rim and film. Enormously sharp grapefruit nose. Earth and funk under that. Creamy body on the high side of medium. Prickly carb. Earthy biscuity mid-palate with grapefruit, apricot, and a bit of funk. Nice crisp resiny finish. Wow, incredibly nice and bold DIPA from northern Europe...not an oxymoron at all, but nice to find for sure.
Miksu (1357), Jyväskylä, Finland Oct 18, 2008 0.5 l bottle. Hazy dark amber color. Sweet, tart and very hop aroma with strong grassy dry hops, pine, lemon, mango and grapefruit. Bittersweet flavor with plenty of grassy and tannic hop flavor, lemon, pine, grapefruit and biscuity maltiness. Very bitter and hoppy, but the hoppiness is too grassy and harsh. GeneralGao (2628), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear red-orange color with an off white head. Smelled of mango, apricot, light caramel, orange, and a whiff of pine resin. Light to medium bodied with moderate to assertive bitterness. Lots of pineapple and pine in the flavor with less dry-ish toffee. Pretty good stuff. MesandSim (4623), Highgate, Greater London, England Sep 30, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle shared with Hog Town Harry. Thanks massively to Jan and Charlotte.
Awesome red amber colour with a thin beige head that can be added to at will with a swill. I really like this. Big sweaty feet hop aroma with some nice oaky notes. good spice and some gorgeous peppery alcohol. A superb mix of grass and resin. The flavour is of an equally high quality. More peppery and spicy alcoholic hop juice with a truly excellent bready malt base. Stunning grassy notes and I thought it was surprisingly balanced for a double IPA. As bitter as you like in the finish with the warm alcohol notes being done to perfection. Really, really good.
