COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too

May 26, 2014. 650mL bottle from LCBO. Opaque chocolate brown colour with light brown head. Coffee and bitter chocolate aromas. Big fluffy head that lingered. Chocolate, coffee and hints of dried fruit (cherries) in flavour. Quite nice.

500ml bottle. Pours almost black, with a one finger tan head. Heavy aromas of molasses, raisin, light cinnamon, dark chocolate, light acidic notes, and sponge toffee. Smells SO delicious. As for taste, HUGE rich molasses notes with a mineral streak up front that leads into light ash, light fruity notes, with some very forward bitterness in the dry finish. The beer is GIANT. If I’m learning anything, it’s that the brewers of Scandinavia like their dark beer exactly like I do. This is excellent.

Dark beer with a frothy brown head. Sweet nose with some roasted grains. This is a very sweet porter with lots of brown sugar and molasses, sweetened coffee, and milk chocolate. Some puffed grain softness and some rye bite in the finish. Very tasty, full flavored porter.

2014-04-29. Black body w a nice creamy brown head and lace. 4+ Flavour is fairly bitter, roasty dark malt lingers in the finish with a dry bitterness. Fruity lightly vinous undertones. Alcohol presence grows as it warms up. Aroma is lightly alcoholic with mild fruity accents and light grainy touches. Smooth medium bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Pretty solid. Bottle from the LCBO as Amager Rye Porter, Toronto

Draft - Toffee, malty, chocolate and a bit of molasses. Jet black with a thin brown head. Raisin and dark fruit, rye grain and a sweet light bitter finish. There is also a nutty flavour. Very nice and complex with no booze for such a big beer.

Draft at the bridge tap house. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Has a bit of nuttiness on the nose. Has some chocolate on the tongue but I didn’t get much rye. Finishes clean. Solid but not spectacular.

Pours a dark brown and is topped by a medium beige rim that leaves some lacing. Nose is of roasted grains and lightly alcoholic. Taste is a little sweet but also bitter, never harsh or cloying. Flavors of dark chocolate, coffee and a little grains. Mouthfeel is silky, just like the one you get from an oatmeal stout. Alcohol is quite apparent although not quite warming. Body is full, carbonation medium. An interesting take on the porter style, nice!
