English: Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too

Bottle labeled as "Rye Porter". Pours with a near black body with a massive tan head. Aromas of brown sugar, molasses, wheat, grainy, brown malt, light metal, caramel, bready and a hit of spice. Flavors are bitter, quite metallic, brown sugar and rye. Off...really off. Lightly sour. Medium bubbles, creamy mouthfeel. Off-putting. A drainpour fortunately.

A dense dark beige foam settles over the blackness. Very roasty ale with hints of chlorine and soft clovey phenols, borderline rubbery. It cannot be desired and might be accentuated to the extreme roastiness and bitterness focused hops, but that does not make it more pleasant. A fair bit of spicy, leafy and especially earthy hops conclude it all, hand in hand with the dry and acidic roastiness. Full-bodied, viscous texture with soft, barely foamy texture. Despite the thickness, minimal malt flavours developed herein, no fruitiness to be found, highly leathery. The off-flavours and exageratedly leaning balance towards bitter roasted malts and almost astringent acidity does not work for me. I usually adore Amager, so that’s a fair disappointment and surprise.

500ml Bottle (As "Rye Porter"): Aroma of malt, rye, chocolate, roasting, and a slight hint of alcohol. Poured dark brown in color with a medium-sized, creamy, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of medium and large-sized particles throughout. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of malt, roasting, chocolate, slight coffee, rye, and some hops. Medium body. Thinish, oily, slightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Malt, roast, chocolate, rye finish is slightly chalky. 8.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

thanks to papso for this one! man is this a good im-porter! it sdrinks really smooth. the rye adds an almost barrel like quality to it. its spicy and bright, roasty and smooth, very balanced with a terrific mouthfeel and palate. super creamy and full, and just the right amount of spice from the rye to take the heavy edge off. the slightly lighter than stout porter base allows the rye to shine a bit more here i feel. terrific brew.

Bottle. Pitch black pour, huge solid lasting tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, rye and some bready yeast. Flavor is very thick bitter roasted malts, perfectly balanced by a nice malty sweetness. Some spicy bitter hops. Amazing brew.

Sampled from a bottle at SIB. Pours black with a caramel lacing. Aroma of dark coffee, toasted/roasted nuts. molasses. Flavour of dark coffee, chocolate and nuts. Similar mouth feel to an imperial stout - just slightly lighter. Full bodied and very enjoyable.

Pours a nice dark black with clean copper tones in the pour and one finger of creamy tan head. Nose is rich and full of sweet coffee roast and mellow bakers chocolate, very nice and smooth with very little bitter notes and an almost java-ish quality. Flavor shows a bit more of the roast and acidity one would expect, black coffee and bittersweet bakers chocolate are compounded nicely by the spicy/grainy character of the rye. Medium body with a reasonably dry feel, nice.

Good beer, if perhaps a little overdone; could have been great. I let it warm a bit out of the fridge. Poured with a beautiful, thick, creamy huge, fluffy, tan head with brown highlights. Color is an opaque very dark brown. Aroma is dark roasty malts, overripe dark fruit, coffee and chocolate. Flavor is about the same as nose but with sharp edges. Alcohol stands out. Finish is like flavor and long. Not a session.
