English: Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too

Bottle. Pours black with a fine tan head that leaves lacing. Aroma of raisin, rye bread crust, fruity yeast, dark malts, a bit of spice. Taste is sweet up front, medium - heavy mouthfeel, more dark bread, rye, spice and alcohol in the finish. Surprisingly hoppy too, balancing the big sweetness. Superb!

Amager Bryghus Rye Porter Very dark opaque pour with a thick clingy tan head. Smells very muc like a porter. Malty smokey and caramel with chocolat. Mouth is very tart. It fades into a chocolaty smokyness. Just a touch warming and boozy. TL/DR: great beer if you want to hear more follow +Big Dude Likes Food

Taster on tap at Neon’s. Very dark brown color. Near black, though not opaque. Minimal khaki head, couple ropes and bits of lace. A surprising amount of smoke to this, I really like that. Good big roast, light spiciness. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, with a light bite, very light sweetness. Drinks like it might be 9-10% (I was expecting around 7%). Bigger body, has a nice chewy texture to it. Lighter carbonation. Pretty dry finish, though that may just be my palate at the moment. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, minimal sweet, light alcohol bite to it. Light bit of belgian style spiciness, nice light spicy rye tingle. Pretty damn tasty european rye imperial porter, better than expected. Awesome chewy texture, good light coffee notes.

Draft to taster. Looks good; cola with thin beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; dark malt, dark chocolate, and roast. Tastes Ike it smells with a nice, rich mouthfeel. Good beer.

Bottle: Poured a dark black color porter with a large light brown foamy head with good retention with some lacing. Aroma of rich black chocolate malt notes with light spicy notes. Taste is also dominated by rich chocolatey malt notes with light dry roasted malt notes and light peppery notes in the finish. Body is quite full with some creamy notes with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Light green hoppy notes are also detectable but very subtle. Enjoyable porter with nice level of drinkability but falling a bit short on the complexity side.

500 mL bottle. Pours dark black with a medium khaki head that leaves a nice lace. Aromas of chocolate, spicy grain, breakfast roast coffee, tobacco and dark bread. Mildly sweet, offset by roasted grain bitterness and acidity and a touch of hop. Full bodied with a pleasant, coating mouth feel. Light to moderate carbonation. Spoiled by lots of good strong porters available in Ontario this year; this is quickly becoming one of my preferred styles.

i usually love rye beers but this was too dry and left a bitter film on the tongue. not much flavor otherwise.

Strange aroma and the flavor was equally weird. It left a coating on my tongue that I've never gotten from a rye before. Maybe these imports are losing something in shipping. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
