English: Amager Rye Porter is the result of fruitful cooperation between the best of Danish and American brewing cultures. It’s base is made of hard roasted malts and 16% rye. It adds a fantastic sweetness, and a titillating spicy edge, which, combined with a subtle and balanced acidity, is reminiscent of rye bread. This is not a beer for the weak, we’re pleased with the outcome and hope you will be too

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2013 Blackened chestnut. Creamy but dying off-tan head. Intriguing nose of carob, ink-soaked blueberries, shoe polish, hazelnut, smoky roast, vanilla. Distant peppery hoppiness. Strong presence of alcohol. Soft, minuscule carbonation. Opens with a gritty roast punch and an immediately ensuing tar-covered espresso bean cushion laced with silky, ink-soaked dark fruits. Massive amounts of tacky, tongue-caressing residuals, yet never cloying due to the ripe estery opulence and relentless roast. Toasted pumpernickel bread snugly nestles into the palate and lends ample crispness to allay the sugary onslaught. Expressively earthy and peppery hop bitterness supplies the body with additional layers of spicy spruce resin. Wealth of smoky roast dries it out as oily java and meaty molasses deepen the endless malt decadence. Bouncy vanilla-bean vibrancy adds lift to the center, keeping the colossal sugar content in check. Slippery rye fruitiness and a wheatlike twang also join in to help bring balance as they align with the dark, plush fruity esters akin to pen ink, blueberry and blackcurrants. Silky, edgeless malt finish, and sublimely plush as well, with rich, velvety truffles, fudge, and liquefied toffee lingering. This is a very unique and singular porter seemingly designed with the wine lover in mind as it’s quite the explosion of fruit. A fun one!

On tap @EurHop (Rome). Pours deep brown/black with a big and quite persistent cappuccino head. Aroma is rich, chocolate, cappuccino, light vanilla and some bready notes. Flavour is medium to high sweet with a decent bitter end, a bit rough. Full body, medium carbonation. Rough porter, but ok.

Bottle as Rye Porter from Kwicker Liquor via Moose. Dark brown pour like Coke with a bubbly brown head. Big aroma of chocolate and dark malt. Wow, big flavor of molasses and dark sugar with a slight coffee hint. Pretty bold. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from the Malt Shoppe in Tosa, as "Rye Porter". Cellar aged a couple of months. Black pour with a brown head leaving consistent spotty lacing. Nose is caramel, big molasses, light cocoa, some smoke and some roast. Taste is of sweet caramel, sticky molasses, cocoa, tangy rye and light smoke. Medium to full bodied with a touch of alcohol. Finishes fairly balanced between sweet and tangy grainy, and dry. Very nice, tasty brew. 14.7

8.5% ABV. Imperial porter. This tapped out an intriguing turbid brown suspension which looked more like commercial mocha mix and my first though was "end of keg". It had no head and the nose was dense with darkly hardroasted malt. The palate was reminiscent of a freshly pulled hunk of black bread. Buried in this wonderful rye-filled, yeasty musk were dark stewed fruits like prunes and dates. Interesting floury mouthfeel. Nice bitter hop finish. I guess this goes on my "once in a lifetime" list.

Deep darkest brown pour with small ruby highlights and fizzy beige head. Sweet aromas of treacle and licorice, with a little port wine, vanilla, leather and alcohol. Lots of dark chocolate in the taste, licorice, treacle, coffee, with light vinous notes too. Bitter and spicy hop/rye mid-palate, dry and roasty finish. Light-med bodied and smooth as silk. Excellent.
