English: At Christmas it’s okay to be secretive and surprise each other. And Amager Brewery is no exception as we want to rejoice. Over the past years we have therefore concealed the fact that we have matured a unique beer of quadrupel type in our basement. We have stored it in oak and pine needles, and the flavor is in the sweet direction, while the nose gets reminiscent of ripe fruit, oak, sweets and marzipan.
In collaboration with our help, goblins, we thus brewed the exclusive brew, you have here in hand and are so julet that even Santa Claus only drink it on the holiest day. Secret Santa is filled with the finest ingredients. There are not many bottles of Secret Santa, a beer so secret that it barely exists - so it was not with the help nissernes good will that we were allowed to publish it. Rip it off the shelves, therefore, should you be lucky enough to find it. You will not be disappointed, but maybe a little bit bimmelim, keeping the entire 10.5% alcohol.

The Christmas spirit is clear, heavy on spices, licorice, intense. Not as drinkable as I would like it to be and a touch too sweet.

Copenhagen 4/2 2016. 50 cl bottle from Gunnar Madsen Vinhandel. Blinking Santa with ice crystals on the label. Pours hazy red amber with small yellow head. Disappears immediately leaving only thin flimsy foam. Aroma reminds me of cough syrup. Lot of anis, cinnamon mixed with alcohol. Low carbonation and oily palate. Taste is overwhelmingly sweet and spicy. Sugar, dried fruit, anis and cinnamon. Distinct notes of alcohol. Reminds me more of a glass of port wine than of beer. An acquired taste - but you can't say that they do not go all in on the Christmas spices.

Great spicy floral aroma. Mahogoney brown with tons of lasting head and thick lace down the glass. Honeyish mouthfeel. This is a big sipper.

Bottle at home from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: clear dark brown beer with amber reflection. No carbonation and small ivory head. Smell: caramel and roasted malt domination. Spicy balanced with licorice and anise. Very interesting nose perfect for X-mas. Taste: full body with good caramel malt and brown sugar notes. Really nice balanced with spicy and sugar. Good attenuation and really drinkable for a quadruple. Aftertaste: caramel malt and sugar. Candied fruits and spicy finish. Perfect X-mas beer.

How: Bottle (500 ml) at home. Batch 917 (BB 12/2016). From boutip, thanks! Split 2-ways.

>>> A dried fruits forward quadrupel that lack a bit of body and is borderline cloying.

+ It’s really dried fruits forward (raisins, plums, figs) and it’s fun profile, but it’s almost too much
+ The moderate spiciness blends well with the alcohol and the fruitiness
Despite a rather high alcohol content (that isn’t hidden), the body is a bit thin for the style
It doesn’t have the depth of the best from the style

Flavors: Dried fruits (raisins, figs, plums), molasses, candy sugar, alcohol
