3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ar: yeast, sweet malts, dried fruit, spices, alcohol, quite appealing.
Ap: amber colour, medium beige head.
T: more hops and bite than usual for the style, yeastiness, thick and sweet maltbase, dried fruit and honey, ABV is evident, this is a big beer. Compared to Belgian quads it has less pronounced yeast character and more hops.
P: small Lively bubbles, thick mouthfeel.
T: very likeable

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Good smell and good taste. But perhaps exaggerated anyway. Not as heavy as I thought. Very easy to drink. Good and fairly long finish with a bit of sweetness.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours clear amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, spices, dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long spicy and fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma: Smelling of sweet bread, ripe apples, sour wine and fermented honey.
Appearance: A clear chestnut colored beer. A off-white head with no lacing and some curtains.
Taste: Tasting sweet bread, bitter orange marmalade, vinegar and oak.
Palate: Medium carbonation, a soft texture. A good body with a slight dry finish.
Overall: The oak had probably pushed this one (a year old) too much to the sour side. Not bad, but not really a quad any more.
Note: Bottle 500 ml. (Vintage 2011) Reviewed 2012-12-30.

Not a very heavy aroma. Quite malty sweet on the toasted side. Nice brown ale with decent palate. Quite good but not too special. Just a very good brown ale. Lots going on.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Henrik, Bergen. Pours a slightly hazy brown colour with a small light beige head. The aroma is sweet and fruity with dark berries, winegums, caramel and dried fruit. Well-balanced flavour of sweet and caramel malt, dried fruit, some alcohol, cinnamon and anis. Rich and sticky mouthfeel, and has a light bitterness. A wonderful and balanced beer that would be a great one to have in your beer cellar.

Bottle. Thx Morten. Beautiful hazy amber with beige head. Syrupy aroma with pine notes. Sweet flavour with lots of sugar along with a spicy, bitterness in the end. Lovely beer from the best allround brewery in Denmark.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
500ml bottle from Archive. Christmas beer on Christmas Day of course. Pours a very dark brown with a thin line of foam. Plums, prunes and spice in the aroma, fruit cake in a glass. Full mouthfeel with a creamy backdrop and you can really taste the alcohol. Almost rum like.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a deep red-hued clear brown body. Nose is deep caramel, toffee and brown sugary notes, hints of wood, alcohol, chocolate and licorice. Taste is caramel, muscovado sugar, rum, wood, vanilla, port wine and hints of alcohol and marzipan. Thick, near-oily mouthfeel, moderate to fizzy carbonation. Perversely sweet, but it sometimes just works for me.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Red brown with small white head. Aroma sprouce and sweet dried fruits. Quite funny the beer isn´t so dominated by the aroma from sprouce as some IPA´s are. Very sweet and cloying. Sprouce and spices. This beer lacks some hopps to balance the sweetness. A take on a typical belgian christmasstyle beer, but way too sweet. I think it´s the first time I´ve had a quad that I didn´t really like.
