COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Maybe you feel it already, when the cap is removed and you put your nose to the bottle - this " Stout " smells different than what you are accustomed to. We have dry hopped this stout in the late stages of fermentation using the American noble varieties of Nugget , Centennial and Cascade, which allow the floral tones that make this a characteristic Stout - flavours of roasted malt give both lightness and freshness.
The glass appears Sundby Stout black , while the head is tight, light brown and almost cappuccino creamy, the tongue senses both malt sweetness, hints of bitter dark chocolate and English liquorice. Sweetness, however, cleverly balances the hard roasted malt and the split , umalted and roasted barley , which both help to give beer its roasted flavor. Sundby Stout is a classic " Stout ", which nonetheless dares to be different and challenge convention.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt , hops, and yeast

Muy buena esta cerveza. Espuma marrón, ligero sabor a café y no demasiado amarga. Muy rica!

0.5l bottle. This is a clear dark brown one with a medium sized kinda bubbly and somewhat quickly sidesticking brown-ish top. It smells of chocolate this. Roasted chocolate malts and chocolate pudding, coffee, roasted malts, some soft licorice and I also get traces of vanilla and wood. Smells quite nice this one! Non-super extreme, but really nice. It’s average+ on the carbonation this, and the mouthfeel is light slick and perhaps a bit thin compared to what I had hoped for. More of that chocolate in the flavor, lot’s of it actually and it has a lovely bitterness. Smooth integrated flavors. A little ashy hint, like the ashy aroma you get waking up on the floor after a late night in front of the fire place. A nice sweetness mixes in between all the other flavors. A little bit of cold bitter coffee towards the finish before the roasted aftertaste kicks in. Impressively tasty. 07.12.2012

0,5 l bottle shared at Cardinal. Clear deep ruby colored body with an inch thick light brown body. Animal fodder and notes of roasted walnuts in honey fill the nostrils. Bitter, roasted papery flavors. Medium to full body. Papery finish.

Bottle: Batch 165: Beautiful label; Brown pour. Low to medium sized beige tan ish colored head, changes pretty quick into a vast thicker lacing on top of a black colored beer. Smell loads of roasted barley malts, hint of coffee, bay leaf, liquorice, roast, some coal. Good dark smell! Taste bay leaf, roasted barley malts, earth, chalk, bitter, roast, coffee, bitter, coal, some dark chocolate. Very nice deep dark ingredients! Aftertaste is roasted barleys and roasted malts, with dark bitterness, roast and some other good balanced bitter and dark ingredients. Low carbo, soft smooth close to silky mouthfeel, medium to fuller body and a texture between creamy and watery (more closer to watery). This is a stout the way stouts were ment to be! Very good.

Black pour, opaque body, half inch of tan, creamy head. Aroma is mild roasty, malty and has hints of chocolate and toffee. Taste is mellow roasty, somewhat sweet but still well balanced. Malty caramel and mild chocolate with a slightly bitter finish. Medium bodied and carbonation, and a creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a black body with a medium creamy light khaki-hued head retention. Nose is black berries, coffee, dark chocolate and something which lingers between leather and paper glue. Oh well, the aroma is good enough, don’t get me wrong. Taste is coffee, grass, herbal notes, dark chocolate, toasted bread and hints of licorice. Although pleasantly carbonated, it sort of lacks body which lowers the score a bit. Otherwise, a decent stout.

[Thanks to Rasmus40]. 50cl bottle. Black colour with a frothy, foamy, creamy, good lasting, nice lacing beige head. Aroma is malty, toasty, coffee and light licorice. Flavor is toasty, roasty, dark coffee, licorice, bittery and smoky in the final. Smooth on palate. Carbonation is low to medium. Body is medium to high.

Opaque brown-black with a long-lasting light brown head and swirls of lace. It is refreshing to find a stout that isn’t shoved around by chocolate and coffee. This is a full-bodied roasted malt that moves smoothly through the palate to a satisfying bitter finish. The overall effect is a highly drinkable beer that blends well with food, and is low enough abv to enjoy more than one. Recommended.
