English: Maybe you feel it already, when the cap is removed and you put your nose to the bottle - this " Stout " smells different than what you are accustomed to. We have dry hopped this stout in the late stages of fermentation using the American noble varieties of Nugget , Centennial and Cascade, which allow the floral tones that make this a characteristic Stout - flavours of roasted malt give both lightness and freshness.
The glass appears Sundby Stout black , while the head is tight, light brown and almost cappuccino creamy, the tongue senses both malt sweetness, hints of bitter dark chocolate and English liquorice. Sweetness, however, cleverly balances the hard roasted malt and the split , umalted and roasted barley , which both help to give beer its roasted flavor. Sundby Stout is a classic " Stout ", which nonetheless dares to be different and challenge convention.

Dark brown colour with copper highlights. Nice frothy-creamy, long-lasting beige cap with full lacing. Aromas of mild roasted malts with hints of vanilla, coffee and chocolate. The taste is hop over the roasted malts. Oily-watery mouthfeel and medium-bodied. Decent bitterness overall. Straight out stout with a little more hop than usual.

Large bouquet stimulates nose after uncapping: cocoa liqueur, roasted malts, cherries. Dark brown complexion. Bubbly foam. Sweet afore with lingering dry bitter finish. Not too fizzy in mouth. How did they do it?

Dark brown pour with a fair sized offwhite head. Roasted malt, dark caramel, hops in the aroma. Lighter fruit notes give way to toasted malt, cocoa, cereal grains, lighter vanilla sweetness. Medium to heavier body, drying finish.

Strong roast, notes of bitter cocoa, coffee, and some light vanila. Dry finish, low bitterness. Solid roasty notes, just an all around good stout.

Bottle from the LCBO. Dark not-quite-black with a tan head. Solid aroma with notes I expect from a good stout - roasted malt, cocoa, hints of coffee and chicory - along with a slightly more prominent hop character than is typical. Flavour follows, presenting a good roasty stout with leafy hops in the finish with a slight metallic tang. Nice.

6.2%ABV. Stout Poured out of the bottle a dark brown. 36ºSRM. Nose had dark fruit aroma. There is some nice fresh ripe grape aromas. Some nice clean sugary flavors. almost like a "chin chow". There are some clean barley aromas, like a freshly breweed batch of local homemade barley. Mouthfeel is carbonated and slightly soapy. There are some nicely roasted dark malty flavors. Slight salty taste that rounds off the impression of umami at the end. Good charcoal hit. Brief impression of peat. Finish is bitter without much character.

Gluepot (240) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 31, 2015
A soft nose of chocolate and mild coffee. This stout has a very clean balanced taste, featuring some earthy and floral hops, mild chocolate and coffee, and a slight touch of creaminess. A slightly thinner than expected consistency, the hop presence, and a clean dryness to the finish round out the taste profile. An easy drinking stout with a slight lean towards a black IPA.

Pitch black pour. Sort of a salty caramel biscuit with burnt toast and a hint of ash. Medium bodied with a touch of sweetness and finishes with a bit of bitterness. A very tasty brew
