COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English: For quite some time the Amager crew has been discussing this question: which person is the most rock’n’roll in the whole craft beer world - is it Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds or is it Todd Haug of Surly Brewing? In the end it wasn’t really all that difficult to decide since only Todd has played for Laura Dern in a David Lynch movie (yeah, Nicolas Cage was in that same movie, but since when did he count?) AND Todd plays the guitar in both a speed metal band and a stoner band. Add to that that Todd and his wife Linda are some of the nicest people to hang out with. So Todd, here’s to you: "Todd - The Axe Man" - a potent IPA loaded with fresh American aroma hops on a base of rich Golden Promise malt, Surly’s signature malt. Raise a glass to Todd, world class brewer - and master of the axe! Bonus facts about Todd: yes, he DID actually have a perm in his younger days (his wife confirms) and he does indeed love cats an awful lot.

Ingredienser: Vand. Malt: Golden Promise. Humle: Herkules, Citra, Mosaic. Gær: US-ale

Bottle shared during the RBESG 2014 London Sunday Tasting - Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell. Pours clear yellow with some out-of-place floaties and a creamy white topping. Big citrus nose with heavy shots of ripe grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor with lots of rich pale malts, light lemon pith, mellow bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish with rich, fairly juicy citrus, more pale bread. Very solid.

On tap @ Henrik. Only a soft blurry in this one, almost so soft that you might even call this clear. Color vise this is golden and it has a nice medium sized white lacing head. Like the citrus infused nose. Lots of hoppy goodness with grapes, cat pee, some pommelo with traces of honey heater. Nice. Tastes a lot! Really grassy I guess. Grapefruit. Lots of green grapes. Unripe plums and a fine bitterness all the way. It’s also slightly mouthdrying this. In the mouth it feels light oily and it’s about average on the bubbles. Soft fruity Nelson sweet tail. Yupp, i like this, but I doubt I will be able to drink pint and pints of this in one setting. 19.09.2014

Heavy aroma of tropical fruits. The same applies to the taste. Absolutely wonderful beer. Occasionally with bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the mouth forever. Here’s how I want my perfect IPA should taste and then I of course give it a top score. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bottle. A dense, off-white head of moderate size sits on top of an unclear yellow-golden body. The aroma has lots of hops, with pine cones, pineapple, resins, a generic tropical fruityness and in the back there’s some pale malts. It’s a bit sweetish on the palate, full-bodied and with a nice carbonation level. Some pale malts in the flavor, as a backdrop for all the tropical fruits, pineapple, citrus and resins. A good bitterness too. Lasting fruity finish where the beer feels quite dry. Pretty wonderful this one, and very drikable. 140927
