English: Cain is said to have murdered his brother out of envy. At Amager Bryghus we believe that murder is taking things a bit far. However, we admit to being envious because we weren’t the first brewer to come up with the beer style we admire the most: a crisp and hopped up West Coast IPA. We won’t kill anybody because we didn’t come up with the idea first, instead we present to you “Envy” - our take on this style. Humble – yet envious.
We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from: Pilsener and Munich malts. Hopped with Amarillo, Simcoe and Centennial and fermented with an American ale yeast.

Bottle from Beershop De Molen @home. Pours clear dark blonde with a medium white frothhead, good lacing. Very hoppy and citrusy to the nose. Aroma is strongly that of citrusy, bitter hops. Aftertaste is very dry and bitter. Light body, carbonation is medium. Overall a decent IPA, though a little unbalanced.

Bottle: Poured an orangey color ale with large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and grapefruit hoppy notes is enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by some citrus and grapefruit notes. There are also some light sweet malt notes that are discernable with medium bitterness in the aftertaste. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. This is a very good beer but like mentioned on the label, the recipe book was not rewritten.

Gift from bartender at Six Roses. Golden yellow with small lacing white foam head. Very hoppy aroma with some banana tones. Tastes real bitter, like it. Lasting bitter aftertaste. (Lille 201404)

UPDATED: APR 2, 2014 50cl bottle EU local swap, mange tak Enjoyit. Pours confident hazy yellow with soft pillows of eggwhite foam. Assertive aroma of lemon grass, ripe melon and fresh hay. Taste is likewise assertive, very much earsmear & pine of the brash Centennials, bitter herbs. This over-assertive bitterness and lingering pine finish in combination with the powdery yeast profile somehow conjure up spring flowers and pollen... Not a juicy citrus West Coats IPA by any means. A bit of a challenge to finish...envious in that cumulative sense of the undrinkability of big, bold and resinous IPAs?

Bottle at Beer Hunters. Clear golden color, good white head. Citrusy, grassy aroma. Medium-bodied. Straightforward citrus - grassy, lemony IPA. Grapefruity aftertaste. Amager quality brew for daily consumption.

Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks! Hazy orange yellow, off-white head. Hoppy, grassy nose, malt in the background. Taste is malts, caramel, grassy hops, fruity tones and herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. The herbal bitterness becomes almost astringent, distracting.
