COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: We asked our smartass marketing director what beer would be a good choice for the sin of Greed. He only pondered for a sec and then said: “We should simply do as all the big players do: make a cheapass beer and sell it at a premium prize – that’s greed for you alright”. Our marketing director is a smart guy, so of course we did what he said. We even put a picture of him on the label. The beer however turned out pretty badass. It’s a straight up German Pilsener without any fuss. Dig it – we do.
We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from pilsener malts, Tettnanger and Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops and a Southern German lager yeast.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2012 Clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma was nicely packed with grassy hops, flowers and a few hints of german malt. Flavor had a lovely authentic german pilsener taste with german hops and a breadish taste. Grassy and crisp. Dry and bitter. Very authentic. Any ratings of this based on a less than a 50 cl wont do it justice. Masterpiece!

Thanks to Tim and Rachel! State pour with a fluffy white head. Lager yeast and grainy aroma, faint floral and pine. Sweet smooth honey flavor with the above mentioned descriptors. Clark easy drinking. Nothing special.

Cloudy golden pour with swirls of suspended sediment throughout and a moderately big fluffy white head that leaves a ton of lace. Lemongrass and light grainy notes on the nose with some light spice notes that give a bit of a witbier impression. Creamy lemon on the palate with some graininess that’s a little off-putting, but the lemoniness slides into this spicy and slightly acidic feeling thing that’s interesting to me. I’d like a little more spice in the mouth and there’s something really strange about the mouthfeel that I can’t put a finger on. I don’t think I’d pay for another bottle but this beer is definitely worth trying.

This beer is intriguing. Light and cloudy with a wispy foam head. Very light. The taste is light, but full of character somehow. Finish is lemony. This beer reminded me of a somewhat mixed concoction of German pilsner (about 3/4) and gose (about 1/4). A very drinkable and refreshing pils, in my best estimation. Greed is deceptively simple and, if you appreciate TRUE German style pils and keep an open mind, you will enjoy this half liter offering and discover it grows on you as you finish the glass. But it is, unfortunately, very expensive.

50cl bottle, batch 713, bb 11/2014. EU Local Swap 4: Tak til Enjoyit! This has a lot in common with many SW-German Pilsners: apart from the apparent fine Tettnang profile, there’s a certain level of protein malt aromatics. Nose is more grainy than hoppy, with a meadow grass&flower freshness continuing in the taste. Mouthfeel is paper dry and somewhat hampers the unfiltered rich aromas. A few rough edges keeping it from being completely round, but this is an easy drinking pilsner "without any fuss" and as such less "bad ass" than the openly greedy marketing would have it. Expecting further exponents of the Sinner series to be more boldly pronounced, though...

Bottle: Poured a dark golden color pils with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of cereal notes with light crispy hops notes. Taste is also dominated by light sweet cer4eal notes with some very subtle grassy hops notes with a dry finish. Body is full enough for style with good carbonation. Enjoyable enough but grassy hops notes could have been even more pronounced.

My Bottom Line:
This very authentic German-style lager shares cracking hay and herbal hop spiciness for a highly refreshing pint.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam sits atop the misty straw blond.
-Carbonation is appropriately prickly yet soft.
-Malts and hops are both expressed clearly.
-A floral character is found throughout, but more of the dandelion or sunflower variety (not the usual rose-like geraniol connotations).
-Drinkability is obviously quite high (if you like noble hops, that is).
-The flavor profile is also well balanced.
-The finish is perhaps a tad more bitter than the average German Pils.

Bottle.
