English: This strong Belgian ale is so rich, so sweet and so luscious, that we wouldn’t hesitate calling it pure lust in a bottle. During the making of this beer the general mood in the brewhouse turned somewhat sensual if not downright erotic! And everybody involved in the brewing spontaneously engaged in heavy cheek kissing. If it wasn’t for the unexpected ring of the doorbell things could have gone even further… This beer is so lustful that we cannot vouch for the consequences if you serve this to your girlfriend over a candlelight dinner. This may very well result in a lifelong payment of child support. We have brewed a beer with the most sensual of sugars we could find at our local grocery store. We were tempted to spice it up with well-renowned aphrodisiacs like Spanish fly or oysters, but frankly we didn’t see the need for it.
We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Flaska från Barley Wine, Köpenhamn. Tack Kim, för köpet! Får ej säljas i Sverige pga etikett.

Dark lush clear ruby red mahagony brown colour with a fine poring off white light beige head. Aromas of herbal-spices, candis/rock sugar, yeast esters of dark ripe berries hints of clove and banana as well as cherry-chocolate. Softly carbonated, smooth, slick, rich and full bodied. Malty herbal-honey, brown-sugar sirup and fruit sweetness with a soft bitterness. Complex chocolate-cherry, herbal and dark fruit flavours develop. Lasting light sweet-dry finish. Impressive.

Bottle. Pours hazy very dark ruby with airy but stable light beige head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel, fruit and raisins, with touches of yeast. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt and fruit, with notes of raisins and cinnamon and touché of yeast. Bitter, hoppy notes towards the finish. Sweet, fruity and estery aftertaste with bitter notes of hops and booze. Warming alcohol presence. Decent.

Clear copper color. Lots of carbonation. Aromas of caramel, alcohol, plums, and some nice fruity esters. Sickeningly sweet with little else to moderate it. It has complexity, some light acidity, touch of hop bitterness, some spicy yeast flavors. The alcohol was well hidden. But this is far too sweet. It tastes as if somebody decided they didn’t like belgian beer, so they added 10tsp of sugar to make it palatable. I won’t be lusting after this one again.

Bottle from boxbeers.dk. Pours cloudy amber with a beige head; sweet aroma of caramel, dark fruits, sugar, and a hint of chocolate; taste is sweet with dark fruits, caramel, molasses, and a little chocolate; finish sweet with some alcohol warming; fairly sweet, almost too much sweetness in this one.
