English: We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

Bottle (BB Oct 2018). Head is initially large, frothy, brown, fully lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (chocolate cake, caramel, roasted grain), with notes of vanilla, alcohol, blackberry. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Full body, creamy/syrupy texture, soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic. For this size, the aroma is a bit docile and ordinary....mostly just chocolate/vanilla, not a lot of roast or subtlety. It’s nice, but not exciting. Similarly in the mouth, it’s quite sweet and a bit syrupy, so while it’s balanced enough to drink, it doesn’t really incite a lot of interest beyond 4oz or so.

Bottle at home (batch # 512). Pours a dark brown to black with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. Taste of coffee, some chocolate. Not so much sweet as expected for other ratings and more towards bitter with some alcohol. Bitter, coffee-like, aftertaste with again some alcohol notes. Not as good as I hoped for, but still a very decent Imp.Stout.

Dark ruby color, small off-white head. Caramel, light toasted notes in the nose. Sweetish, toasted flavor. Some alcohol in the finish. Nice, kind of light version (flavorwise) of Hr Fredriksen.
