English: We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

Very dark pour with somewhat of a tan head. Smells of chocolate and booze. Very boozy on the tongue, an abrasive mouthfeel with toasty notes. Warms the belly! This is a great representation of an Imperial Stout. Ballsy!

Aroma is sweet, malty, roasty with a bit of alcohol. Black, with nice frothy head, leaving nice lacing. Sweet with delicate spicy notes. Full bodied, oily, sticky even. Bitter in after taste. Low-medium carbonation. Nice one.

My most expensive beer till date. Was it worth it? Yes and no. It is a very good beer, pitch black, small tan head. Strong aromas of mostly dark chocolate. Nice dry bitter tasted, again chocolates, a hint of dark fruits, long bitter finish. But ... I had the same experience with beers which were a quarter of the price.

Bottle from Uba ja Humal in Tallinn (€ 7.90). BB 08/2019. Pours a black colour with very little creamy head. The head drops fast to leave a thin film and a circle around the edge. The second pour gives a lot more of it though. Looks great. (Damn it, the last pour gives me a myriad of big fckn chunks.) The aroma is vinous, a bit vinegary even, molasses, black olives, liquorice, leather and soy sauce initially, then herbal, black berries and chocolate, butter. I’m not very familiar with Zeus hops but it seems to work well in this one - the aroma is an appetising melange of thick sweetness and pungent bitterness. More vinous and burnt sugar / molasses as it warms. Taste is... I was gonna say roasty-molasses-caramelly-sweet, but before I know it, the palate is covered in a tidal wave of extreme, herbal-resinous bitterness... As it warms it gets much sweeter though, and thicker. And by much I mean much. Alcohol is very damn well covered, except for in the very finish, warming the back of the mouth and throat. Body’s in the heavyweight category, but its carbonation more like featherweight - thin, but kicking, getting off well with the almost harsh finishing bitterness. Overall it’s among the best Amagers I’ve had yet - then again, I am a sucker for big, over-hopped Stouts.

Bottle at koht, tallinn. Black color, brown head. Aroma is rich roasty, hoppy, some fruity notes. First taste is rich roasty, coffee and chocolate. Ending is dry fruity hops. More black ipa than stout.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2015 Decent drinkable brew, but cant agree with commercial description - it lacks something in every aspect to become good IMP. Moreover.. it feels bit dull and thin. At least in comparison with other 3 IMPS of my session. Decent malty background with some licorice, dried fruits. Likeable coffee, but bit ashy Like the smoothness. Light sweet with moderate bitterness.

Bottle... Pours pitch-black with a thin, short-lived, khaki head. The aroma offers warm liquid-fudge and dark berries. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and tickling carbonation. Dark, deeply roasted, bitter and resiny notes are featured in both the flavor and lingering, burnt finish. Bottle courtesy of my Danish friend, Plovmand!
