English: We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

Bottle@Home. Laurel, chocolate, very malty aroma, strong flavours. Black, brown firm head, very nice lace. Sweet, very malty, nice bitterness, chocolate, coffee, light salty, laurel, complex. Full, alcoholic, bit astringent. Wow!

500ml Bottle - Black in colour. Coffee, liquorice and a hint of coffee in the aroma. Chocolatey and mildly roasted taste with notes of liquorice, roasted coffee and chocolate. Rich, yet easy to drink. It certainly doesn’t taste like it’s 10%.

50 cl bottle (batch #512). Pours almost black with a thick dark head. Aroma is fruity with coffee, vanilla and roasted malts. Nice creamy body, with moderate carbonation. Long bitter aftertaste. Flavor is also fruity. Dark fruits. Sweet with vanilla, burned coffee, a little hops, some smoke and a hint of peat. Big on taste. Well rounded.

Sample at a tasting at Systembolaget, April 2013. Black with a tan head. A lot of roasted malt in this one. Also some coffee, dark chocolate and light smoke. On the sweet side with a long finish. A descent one to sip.

My Bottom Line:
Alcohol heat slaps coffee, vanilla and licorice around, as wealthy oats and dark chocolate watch by, entertained.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the brown-ringed darkness.
-Mouthfeel is rich and coating.
-Because of the alcohol heat, but also because of the malt complexity, this is a serious sipper.
-Licorice spiciness is also into star anise territory.

Bottle at home, from kihoskh. Pitch dark, smooth lovely dark brown head. strong roasted malty aroma, nutty kind of sweetness, flowery hops, very slight herbal touch to the aroma. Flavor is very good. hard roasted malts, bitter malts, good hoppy bitterness to balance, long and strong aftertaste, notes of licorice and chocolate. Flavorfull imp. stout.
