English: We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

Bottle. Black colour with a tan head with medium lasting and nice lacework. Aroma is roasty, toasty, coffee and cocoa. Flavor has toasted and roasted malts, licorice, coffee beans and black chocolate. The final has pepper notes, cocoa, strong coffee and chocolate, strong licorice and alcoholic sensation.

Bottle, 50 cl. Pitch black with a creamy and long lasting toffee brownish head. Roasted malty aroma, prunes, light acidic notes, light smoke. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is a let-down, though, and not up to Amager Bryghus’ usual high standards. Too sweet, too thick, too plummy to my palate. And way too high ABV to be a delight.

High creamy and long lasting good looking brown head. And yes, the body is indeed pitch black. Lovely choccolate coffee roasted malt vanilla aroma. Sweet and solid roasted malt base with a fair amount of hops bitterness coffee choccolate and vanilla in a very fine balance. Even the high alcohol percentage is well hidden. Low carbonation. Long bitter sweet finish.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2013 (Bottle). Sweet and a little musty scent of sour smoke and cured meats such as smoked ham. Sweet malt flavor with a distinct touch of smoke and slightly burnt malt. In the taste is also hints of chocolate and licorice. Has a sticky aftertaste which is quite sour. This is probably not a bad beer, but I don’t think this is a particularly good Imperial Stout, it has a far too acidic and burnt taste.

Very ok imperial stout. Not so leaning on one specific taste but instead has a nice balance. Nice dark color and brown head. Chocolate and coffee make the taste. Good.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Black with a brown head. The aroma is full of chocolate and ash notes. The flavor is a bit more complex with the same chocolate and ash notes, but with dark fruit and roasted malt added. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
