English: We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

Bottle at RBJG 2 Grand Tasting, thanks Theis. Black colour with no head. Strong alcohol aroma that hides notes of licorice and dark fruit. Slightly weak mouthfeel. Burning alcohol flavour with chocolate,

Pitch black color. Dark brown color. Soy sauce, molasses, shitake, blueberries, a touch sweet maltiness in the nose. The body is full with lots of roasted character upfront, then some dark roasted character. Rich, but alcohol is well hidden. Shitake and molasses in the finish with a salty uneasiness. Good, but hmmmm, not exactly my taste, but decent.

Aroma has liquorice, dark berries, (sveske), blackberries, black currants, the 6 hour boilong time doesn’t really show all that much. Although it smells really nice. Taste is medium bitter, lots of roasted malts, chocolate, black currants and malt sweetness in the mid-taste, and a good amount of bitterness in the after taste. Really balanced. Low carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. I really enjoyed it. Bought at Cervezorama.

Bottle. An opaque black beer, with an average sized, frothy, lacing, mostly lasting, brown head. The aroma is moderately to heavily malty (roasted grain, chocolate, coffee), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), with notes of licorice, alcohol, dark fruits, anise. The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, oily/creamy texture, soft carbonation, very long finish with moderate to heavy bitterness, moderately alcoholic. Fair, with a nice, oily/creamy mouthfeel and an excellent appearence, but it gets lost with an unrefined and a bit chaotic (IMHO) mouth experienced caused by abrasive bitterness. I’m not into the anise note as well. Good, but being Amager I expected better.
