English: We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

Black, medium beige head. Roasty dark toffee and cocoa aroma. Bitter, sweet, thick, warming, great. Wonderful example of the imperial variety. Thumbs up.

50cl bottle served in a snifter. Dark, dark brown pour but black once in the glass. Off white frothy head but soon dissipates. Aroma is quite harsh, sharp and unwelcoming initially although once opened the coffee and dusty chocolate give way to any sharpness - almost as though one had imagined its presence initially. Mouthfeel weirdly contradicts the taste - creamy and smooth mouthfeel but the taste is somewhat one dimensional and a little weak. Not the luxurious profile promised by the initial decadence on the tongue. Not worth the money and toward the end the heat from the alcohol gets a little too much - which considering the much stronger Imperial Stouts I have tried surprised me. Nice marketing with the sinner series but not a step us from their Hr. Fredericksen.

From Craftissimo. Opaque black-brown, thin fizzy tan head, foamy lacing. Smells of very dark malt, coffee, soy sauce, light anise/herb. Tastes quite sharply acidic, bitter, burnt malt and coffee, ash, salt/soy sauce. Too sharp. Body is acidic/tart, bitter, medium, a bit syrupy. Nice aroma, plenty of bitterness and very big overall, but taste (and body to a lesser extent) is too sharp.

Bottle from Craftissimo at home. Thick black pour with thick tan head with frog eye bubbles. Aroma is a bit raisin soy but mild enough to be more appealing than I usually find that - lots of roasted malt, some faint forest dank hops. Taste is good - bitter roasted malt, booze, a bit of 廿四未 unfortunately. Solid straightforward imperial stout with a bit too much raisin.

Poured from a 500ml bottle. This beer poured black with an extremely dense brown head. I can smell the rich maltiness from the extended boil, there is a soft smokiness. The flavor is rich, tons of roast character, ashy, raisin, bitter chocolate. Solid stout.

Aromat: niezbyt charakterystyczny dla RIS-a, bowiem dominują w nim akcenty alkoholowe z przewagą wina i owocowe (maliny, jeżyny, wiśnie, aronia, śliwki). Dopiero w tle nuty czekoladowe. Całość sprawia wrażenie odrobinę dzikiego. Barwa: czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana jasno beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, umiarkowanej wielkości i podobnie trwała. Smak i odczucie w w ustach: potężna słodycz, złamana kwaskowością słodowo- owocową.

500 ml. Body is jet with a disc of velvety frosting on top. Aroma of dark chocolate, bread dough, tobacco and a touch of booze. Flavors of dark chocolate, licorice, mint, citrus and espresso. Heavy body is silky smooth with a medium carbonation and extremely well balanced. This is another excellent execution of a brew by Amager, but I’m finding I don’t particularly care for Zeus hops.

black oily colour with brown head. Taste and smell of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and dark fruit. Overall good example of imperial stout, but not the most representative.
