COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

(50 cl bottle from the brewery; Batch #511 BBD: october 2017) Pours pitch black with beautifully creamy, dark, toffee head. Beautiful lace and decent retention. Regenerates well. Aroma is medicinal, raisiny, dark malts with some herbal, hoppy notes and a hint of the wheaty acidity. Extremely creamy mouthfeel, full bodied, softly carbonated with a sweet, warming finish. Very pleasant but with more of an alcohol bite than I would have imagined. Girlfriend says: "It’s really good."

Bottle sampled at Thomas W, thanks. Lasting brown head. Fruity aroma that also has chocolate and coffey. Flaming strong alcohole. Oily taste with a hard bitterness and dark roasted maltiness that end very sweet. Big and brutal taste that isn’t balanced.

Bottle. Pours black with a 1 finger brown head. Aroma has roasted malt, ground coffee beans, honey/syrup, citrus and some alcohol. Taste is pretty sweet as first, winegum like, then roasted malt followed by a dry after taste with lots of citrus hops. Kind of like a black IPA in the taste but muscled up. Smooth mouth feel, medium carbonation.

Pours jet black and a chocolate head. Mostly dark chocolate on the nose. Taste wasn’t as rich as I was Expecting, Coffee and dark chocolate and a hint of bitterness to round out each sip. A good stout however hoped for a little more.

Henrik the Great. Who else. Poured a veeeery dark brown/black body, opaque with a small tan/brown head. The aroma was a clear mark of the style, sticky, sweet, dark malts and caramel, with some light aromatic hop notes... and something strange, unfamiliar and wrong. The taste... humm. Ok, like this, the backbone/body is a respectable heavy, sticky, slightly roasty maltiness, slightly oily. Zeus, another hop that I have yet to build my opinion on, though I’ve tried several examples, gives an agrumey, lemony maybe note that... well, honestly, just doesn’t fit. Amager usually does a brilliant job with this type of beer, this time, less so. It’s a good beer, but from this brewery (one of my top 3 in the world) I expected more.

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a tiny beige head, which lasts reasonably well and leaves a little lacing. Cappuccino and boiled sweet aromas mix with a strong cured ham aroma, with some faint leafy hops wafting through. Herbal hops up front lead into a sweet, syrupy body, with mint humbug and honey flavours coming through. A touch of black coffee leads into jamon iberico ham in the finish, with a slight smoky aftertaste. There are some quite unusual flavours in this beer, making for an imperial stout that is a little out of the ordinary, but still quite enjoyable.
