English: We thought about this for a long time: what kinda beer would give us the utmost feeling of pride in The Sinner Series? Well, if you know Amager Bryghus you already know that Imperial Stouts have a special place in our hearts. So “Pride” simply had to be an Imperial Stout. What is special about this take on the style is that we boiled the h… out of it. Actually we boiled it for 6 hours, making for a richer and fuller version. We would never dare calling this the perfect Imperial Stout - that would be taking pride way too close to hubris! But we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal, Black, Chocolate malts and roasted barley, hopped with Zeus and fermented with an American yeast strain.

Black with a large light brown head. Aroma had dark chocolate, coffee and English liquorice. Flavor was sort of sweet with plenty of burned malt, espresso coffee, liquorice and dark bitter chocolate. Towards the end hops kicked in and gave it a rather dry and bitter finish. Not overly so, just enough to balance the sweetness for the style. Oily and thick. Lovely!

500cl bottle from the brewery, served young on room temperature. First of all : loving the hoppy touch! Waw! Not flat like expected with imperial stouts. Slightly sticky, soft with a hint of milk chocolate. Sweetness vanishes rather quickly, what is nice. Not too fond on sweet aftertaste when tasting impys. With this one, a hint of bitterness arises after the sweet/hoppy taste. Beautiful lasting alcoholous glow on the palate. This is a really balanced imperial stout, lovely because of it’s unique hoppy character, perfect sweetness and lasting carbonation glow.

Smell of licorice, milk chocolate, crystal malt, quite sweet. Taste is very much like a barley wine loaded with chocolate malt. Sweet but not everlasting, very peaky, decent hop bite, not very roasty, but milk chocolate, nice and drinkable.

500 ml bottle. Served in a Great Lakes Brewing chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with an inch tan head. The head retention is pretty good, and there’s also a lot of lacing. The brew smells like roasted malt, bittersweet and milk chocolate, dark fruit, and some coffee. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s the addition of some molasses, vanilla, and a bit of licorice flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s smooth, creamy and coating with moderate carbonation. I think this is a pretty good imperial stout. Definitely worth picking up if you come across some. $9.99 a bottle.

Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some liquorice. Flavour is roasty, chocolate, definitely sweet but not excessively so. Body is thick and mouthfeel a bit sticky. This beer doesn’t stand out in any extreme way, but it’s just so incredibly well-balanced and drinkable that I love the hell out of it.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, coffee, licorice and alcohol aroma. Moderate to heavy dark sweet toasted dark chocolate malt flavor with a moderate to heavy dark sweet and small alcohol bite finish of medium to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

Draft. Black pour with tan head. Roasted, rich dark tones, more dry finish. Dry chocolate, roasted and rich dark flavors, finishes really smooth for 10%.

500 ml bottle shared with the group. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small creamy beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, a subtle nutty character, smooth mouth feel, some alcohol if consumed quickly, some earthy bitterness to the finish.

500ml bottle. Thanks to tmoney99 for sharing. Very dark brown color. Thin light brown head. Dots of lace. Some bigger yeast chunks visible in the body. Roast malt, some light coffee. Hint of dark fruit, and some earthy hop. Get a little bit of the licorice Tom is talking about. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, moderate bitter, little alcohol heat. Bigger body. Kind of slick. Good chewy texture. Very light carbonation. Solid, big euro imperial stout.
