Danish: Saisoner er in. Saisoner er hippe. Simpelthen.

English: Saisons are in. Saisons are hip. It’s as simple as that. So far, no one has come up with a good explanation as to why this very traditional Belgian farmhouse style has suddenly skyrocketed in popularity amongst the in- crowd of the beer geek nation. Except, of course, for the fact it’s simply a very delicate drink in all of its refined simplicity. But we’ve committed a sin. We couldn’t resist. We poured our Amager Saison variety into a barrel. We hope the soft tannins from the wood and the noble Pinot Noir grapes add a juicy extra twist. By doing so, we may bring the wrath of Saison fundamentalists upon ourselves. But frankly, we don’t give a damn!
We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Pours a dark ruby brown with an off white head. A mixture of light and medium dark malts on the nose with some nuts and red fruits. Quite the same in the mouth with a bit more fruit and red wine. This is a super interesting twist on a saison, which would be well served by a bit more concentration. Nice to drink.

Bottle at home. Has a slightly hazy dark amber colour with a big, light beige head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, citrus, apricot and herbs. The flavour has more grass, spices, marzipan and alcohol. Slick mouth feel, and has a balanced bitterness. A nice saison, sweet with a nice bitterness. A little too much alcohol flavour maybe.

W aromacie pieprz, przyprawy, lekkie drewno, niezbyt intensywny. W smaku już lepiej, słodowość ciasteczkowa, kremowe odczucie, czerwone owoce, głównie wiśnia z przyprawową goryczką, winogrona, finisz goryczkowo - dziki, alkohol wyczuwalny mimo niewielkiego natężenia. Smaczne.

50 cl bottle 6.5% abv. Light murdy brown with large head. Yeasty aroma. Rather complex raste but somewhat boozy for this kind of brew. This beer confuses me.

750 ml bottle purchased at Winooski Beverage Warehouse. Paid $10.49 which is silly because this is yet again another old bottle from that establishment. Amber color with light head retention. Aroma is sour wheat, citrus and stale bread.

Flavor shows light fruit with the old stale malt followed by light oak and old grape juice. Now I am confused as to if the beer was shelved to long or if the brewer intended it to be this way. Lot of grape fruity notes with the stale malt. Drinkable but barely. Damn it, burned again. Warning to folks shopping at Winooski, VT. Some of the brews are on the shelf AWHILE.

@ Havregatan. Bottle (50 ml) from Skjold Burne, Helsingör. Fruity, yeasty and estery with spicy and caramely notes, sweet with light banana notes, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry, bitter, fruity and yeasty.

#2 review of this beer, tried on tap before. A lot if difference, this much more what I expected. Bottle. Pours beautiful clear amber with one-finger off-white head. Aroma is spicy and peppery, catching the grapes and some wood. Taste is medium sweet, bit tart. Smooth body and really dry finish. Nice and the wine makes sense. So much difference between the two of them. This is spicy with wine-notes and color, on tap is was standard, but spicy saison. Have to be the barrels that are re-used?

500 ml bottle poured a clear amber with a lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of straw, oak, caramel, light pepper and light vanilla. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, oak, vanilla and light pepper with a smooth dry lingering oak finish.
