English: The sunstone - much disputed among scholars. Did the Viking navigators really have such a tool that would help them point out what was east and what was west - even on a less than sunny day? We certainly believe so. Many years later no sunstone was needed when Amager Bryghus was invaded by what very much looked like Viking ancestors of American descent. Hailing from Munster, Indiana, Chris Boggess and Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds Brewing arrived not with a vengeance but with very loud King Diamond on their portable mp3 player. This was not a day for slaughter but for brewing. And brew we did. The mellow and dangerously quaffable Arctic SunStone is proof that even Viking warriors can have a more subtle side to them. All hail to Three Floyds.

On tap @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours slightly hazy dark golden, with a creamy off white head. Aroma is hoppy peach, apricot and oranges, as well as malty toffee and butterscotch. Full body, with average carbonation. Flavour is bitter with hoppy orange peel and peaches, as well as some sweet malts with grain, toffee and some butterscotch and phenolic notes. A bit disappointing.

Draught@ olhus copenhagen in Helsinki, golden colour with slight haziness, thin white head, medium to High carbonation, rose and honey on the nose, light caramel notes, medium body, light grapefruit and bit of peach, medium biterness which is not long lasting, good beer but not a favourite to me in the style...

0,50 bottle purchased at the Hoppy Imports (Greece) and consumed in Kosovo. Pours an incredible hazy golden amber color, tick and long-lasting off-white cap. Nose: amazing tangerine notes along with orange juice and grapefruit. So fresh and intense nose, also tropical forward. Mouth: distinctive grassy aftertaste (Amager!) in a balanced body. Soft-medium carbonation, lemony.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese. Pours hazy gold with an off-white head. Aroma of citrus, light stone fruit, and a hint of pine. Med body or better. Hop forward with light stone fruit, then some very lightly roasted caramel, and maybe some citrus. Pine maybe in the long finish. Tasty.

Poured from bottle into tulip. Thick opaque yellow orange with big chunky soapy foam that sits on top of the beer. Sort of a pine/ orange scent in the glass. Taste has more pine and citrus with a nice malt backbone, not too sweet but definitely there. Palate is a little thin, but appropriate. Overall, not a bad brew, grew on me a little more as I drank it. Not super exciting, but pretty solid. I think it is probably better when it is super fresh, I’m not sure how old the bottle is; could be skewing my rating a little.

Bottle - this one feels a bit aged. Pours hazy orange, medium beige head, dissipates fairly quickly with good lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, spruce, oranges, caramel. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, citrus, caramel, lemon zest. Medium body, high carbonation, a touch of acidity.

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Nearly clear dark amber color, good white head that slowly settles to a cover, curtain of lace. Taste is fruity caramel malt that adds fizz and mild hops on the swallow, drifting from there to a short finish. An odd brew that has a big feel in the middle while exhibiting wateriness on the ends. Good, not great.
