COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: The sunstone - much disputed among scholars. Did the Viking navigators really have such a tool that would help them point out what was east and what was west - even on a less than sunny day? We certainly believe so. Many years later no sunstone was needed when Amager Bryghus was invaded by what very much looked like Viking ancestors of American descent. Hailing from Munster, Indiana, Chris Boggess and Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds Brewing arrived not with a vengeance but with very loud King Diamond on their portable mp3 player. This was not a day for slaughter but for brewing. And brew we did. The mellow and dangerously quaffable Arctic SunStone is proof that even Viking warriors can have a more subtle side to them. All hail to Three Floyds.

Ingredients: Water. Malts: Pale, Munich, Melanoidin. Hops: Tomahawk, Citra, Centennial, Simcoe. Yeast: UK-ale.

Hazy orange color with off-white stable and creamy head. Aroma of citrus, pineapple, hops. Very nice aroma. Taste is sweet with short lightly bitter finish. Very good beer, where everything is balance. Only negative think is, that the taste good be stronger.

Bottle on the beach in Hornbæk. Lots of tropical fruit, passion fruit, mango, pineapple, guava, yeah, lots. Perfect malt/hop balance for an APA, super high drinkability despite the alcohol and IBU. A top APA by any measure.

0,5 l pullo jaettu @ OPP. Samea toffeenruskea. Tuoksussa trooppista hedelmää, sitrusta, humalaa ja mallasta. Maussa vähän sitrusta, humalaa ja mallasta. Harmillisen laimea.

0,5l bottle shared with a friend @ One Pint Pub. Pours cloudy amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma is malts with some tropical fruits. Flavor is malts, tropical fruits and hops. Surprisingly watery. Best before 04/2017 so that can’t be it. Disappointing.

The beer is hazy, dark yellow when you pour it. The foam is beige / white with big bubbles that disappear at a leisurely pace. However, leaving the fine grooves in the glass. Lovely aromas of hops. Behind it citrus, grapefruit, sweet tangerine, pineapple and passion fruit. With hints of caramel, pine, resin and grass. The flavors of the hops, passion fruit, citrus, cherry, pineapple, grapefruit. Tastes a little sweet mandarin, mango. A little sweet at the end. But it is more reminiscent of an IPA than a monkey. Rich body. Medium-high bitterness. Crispy carbonic acid.

slightly hazy burnished gold with light beige head. Mango and peach on nose. Medium body, juicy fruit, herbal, quite sweet so balance is good.

Copenhagen 22/2 2016. 50 cl bottle from Gunnar Madsens Vinhandel. Crazed red bearded Viking swinging his sunstone all over the place on the label. Pours hazy golden yellow with white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam. Lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is intense and fruity. Sweet exotic fruit like peach, passion fruit and melon with tart sour notes of citrus. Strong fizzy carbonation and watery palate. Taste is a little disappointing after the intense and fruity aroma. Seems kind of diluted. Light fruity sweetness followed by a pronounced bitterness. Aftertaste is suprisingly short with a semi dry finish. Looks and smells excellent - but the taste is not able to fully follow up on this and the aggressive carbonation does not help.
