COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: The sunstone - much disputed among scholars. Did the Viking navigators really have such a tool that would help them point out what was east and what was west - even on a less than sunny day? We certainly believe so. Many years later no sunstone was needed when Amager Bryghus was invaded by what very much looked like Viking ancestors of American descent. Hailing from Munster, Indiana, Chris Boggess and Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds Brewing arrived not with a vengeance but with very loud King Diamond on their portable mp3 player. This was not a day for slaughter but for brewing. And brew we did. The mellow and dangerously quaffable Arctic SunStone is proof that even Viking warriors can have a more subtle side to them. All hail to Three Floyds.

Ingredients: Water. Malts: Pale, Munich, Melanoidin. Hops: Tomahawk, Citra, Centennial, Simcoe. Yeast: UK-ale.

DWF; Pours hazy golden with a creamy, lacing, off-white, lasting head. Nose is malt, caramel, yeast, heavy sweet citrus and spice. Taste is moderate to heavy sweet and heavy bitter with a lasting, spice, bitter, lasting finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

500ml bottle from Vinmonopolet. Two finger off-white head. Hazy golden orange body. Aroma is herbs, metal, peach, grapefruit, caramel. Slightly yeasty. Mostly bitter on the tongue, still quite sweet. Extremely good bitter/dry aftertaste. The best APA I’ve ever had!

Pours a slightly hazy orangey amber. Tons of fluffy white head that had hints of peach color to it. Amazing lacing and the head held fantastically. Aroma is bright tangerine, apricot, sweet grass and floral. Mildly bitter. Taste is much like aroma. Tangerine and apricot followed by the grassy floral notes. Medium body and carbonation; but a creamy quality to the body as well. Very good beer.

Hopmaestro (324) - Örebro, SWEDEN - MAR 2, 2015
Aroma is fruity and peachy with a floral touch. The taste is a very lean and smooth hop-sensation. There’s not that much of malts and caramels in here, and it shouldn’t be. The aftertaste is a solid wall of bitterness that isn’t overwhelming but still present. Grow out yer Viking beards and put on those leather outfits and go on a crusade while letting the Sunstone guide you.

On tap @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours slightly hazy dark golden, with a creamy off white head. Aroma is hoppy peach, apricot and oranges, as well as malty toffee and butterscotch. Full body, with average carbonation. Flavour is bitter with hoppy orange peel and peaches, as well as some sweet malts with grain, toffee and some butterscotch and phenolic notes. A bit disappointing.

Draught@ olhus copenhagen in Helsinki, golden colour with slight haziness, thin white head, medium to High carbonation, rose and honey on the nose, light caramel notes, medium body, light grapefruit and bit of peach, medium biterness which is not long lasting, good beer but not a favourite to me in the style...

0,50 bottle purchased at the Hoppy Imports (Greece) and consumed in Kosovo. Pours an incredible hazy golden amber color, tick and long-lasting off-white cap. Nose: amazing tangerine notes along with orange juice and grapefruit. So fresh and intense nose, also tropical forward. Mouth: distinctive grassy aftertaste (Amager!) in a balanced body. Soft-medium carbonation, lemony.
