English: The sunstone - much disputed among scholars. Did the Viking navigators really have such a tool that would help them point out what was east and what was west - even on a less than sunny day? We certainly believe so. Many years later no sunstone was needed when Amager Bryghus was invaded by what very much looked like Viking ancestors of American descent. Hailing from Munster, Indiana, Chris Boggess and Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds Brewing arrived not with a vengeance but with very loud King Diamond on their portable mp3 player. This was not a day for slaughter but for brewing. And brew we did. The mellow and dangerously quaffable Arctic SunStone is proof that even Viking warriors can have a more subtle side to them. All hail to Three Floyds.

Ingredients: Water. Malts: Pale, Munich, Melanoidin. Hops: Tomahawk, Citra, Centennial, Simcoe. Yeast: UK-ale.

Bottle as a birthday gift from the parents. Cheers! Pours amber with a frothy white head. Mild citrus aroma. The taste is spice, pine and citrus. A little aniseed in the bitter finish.

bottle via Mail order. Heavy body and heavy malt for an APA. Good, though, even though I usually prefer hoppy pales. The fruity bitter hops and earthy malts go well. Hints of pine, too.

(Bottle) Pale amber colour, slightly hazy, with big frothy off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with grapefruit, apricots, passion-fruit, crisp-bread and floral, citric hops. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit, apricots, dried pineapple, gooseberry, crisp-bread and a generous floral, citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Fresh and tasty, another good pale ale from Amager. Nice one.

Rated on 9-11-2015 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a huge white head that mostly diminished, slightly hazy body, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is that of wheat, yeast, citrus hops, floral, earthy, malt, and fruity. The flavor is lightly bitter, citrus hops, wheat, yeast, earthy, and malt. The mouthfeel of this beer is smooth and it is light-medium bodied. This is an easy drinking APA beer that has a light bitter aftertaste. It is worth trying and it is also a beer that I would drink again.

Opalescent orange-amber colour with a small off white head. Aromas of caramel, tropical fruit, passion fruit, light mango, wet grass and lychee develop. Fine carbonation, lightly slick with a medium body. Light caramel sweetness up front with a solid fruityness yet not so bitter. Short-medium lasting finish, pretty well balanced and quaffable.

Tap at Whiteflower Corner. Slightly hazy deep orange colour. Quite aggressive hoppiness, both in terms of bitterness and flavour, but not beyond the point of balance. Supported by solid malty caramel background. Very good.
