English: The sunstone - much disputed among scholars. Did the Viking navigators really have such a tool that would help them point out what was east and what was west - even on a less than sunny day? We certainly believe so. Many years later no sunstone was needed when Amager Bryghus was invaded by what very much looked like Viking ancestors of American descent. Hailing from Munster, Indiana, Chris Boggess and Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds Brewing arrived not with a vengeance but with very loud King Diamond on their portable mp3 player. This was not a day for slaughter but for brewing. And brew we did. The mellow and dangerously quaffable Arctic SunStone is proof that even Viking warriors can have a more subtle side to them. All hail to Three Floyds.

APA by Amager in collaboration with Three Floyds. Very thick and frothy (hops-enhanced), thickly membranous lacing, irregular, off-white head over a lightly hazy, deep warm orange coloured beer turning into a misty amber with sediment added. Lovely and lively aroma of mandarins, fresh orange peel, lychee, pink grapefruit, biscuit, bell pepper, sweet paprika, marmelade, unripe mango, cantaloupe, vanilla sugar, lightly toasted bread, redcurrant, subtle hints of dry earth, wormwood, pine, tonic water and barbecued chicken. Crisp onset, lots of citrus freshness (mandarin) with sweetish (mango, pineapple) and sourish (gooseberry, starfruit) components well balanced against each other and remaining sufficiently ’clean’, spritzy and initially slightly numbing, minerally carbonation, supple caramelly and biscuity malt body, sweetish but not (too) sweet, very lightly toasted to support a growing hop character, spicy, citrusy and floral, but remaining primarily aromatic as it should be in an APA; the bitterness as such is long-stretched and cleverly dosed, but gentle and mellow, so that juicy maltiness and the initial fruitiness remain equally important. Clean, very aromatic, utterly elegant, completely flawless, light and smooth and extremely quenching, this is an exemplary APA by all standards, the high quality standard of both breweries is undeniable here. The only thing that is out of line here, is the name, because this is a sunny beer in more than one respect rather than ’arctic’... Glad I bought this.

This beer did very little for me. A lot of exotic fruits and citrus, but I think this is a pale APA (pun intended).

A light orange beer, a head is quite big and blond. Aroma has lots of tropical notes, mangos, grapefruits, some pine. Taste has mangos, mandarin, grapefruits. Citrusfruits in the taste are quite unique. Medium bitterness. Medium bodied, fresh. Interesting and very good beer.

Lots of tropical fruit, passion fruit, mango, pineapple, guava, yeah, lots. Perfect malt/hop balance for an APA, super high drinkability despite the alcohol and IBU. A top APA by any measure

hazy golden with a large white head. citrus, pine, lemon in aroma. Taste is big, unripened tropical fruit, pine with a subtle sweetness. Nice and refreshing. Got it very fresh from brewery and was worth it!

I wasn’t that thrilled with this. Pours a rich amber color. Has an aroma and flavor profile that struck me as a bit English--caramel and fruit, with some dull hop effects and an unpleasant astringency. I see now on the ingredient list that it uses a UK-ale yeast. I totally get that. On tap at Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen.

Hazy orange color with off-white stable and creamy head. Aroma of citrus, pineapple, hops. Very nice aroma. Taste is sweet with short lightly bitter finish. Very good beer, where everything is balance. Only negative think is, that the taste good be stronger.

0,5 l pullo jaettu @ OPP. Samea toffeenruskea. Tuoksussa trooppista hedelmää, sitrusta, humalaa ja mallasta. Maussa vähän sitrusta, humalaa ja mallasta. Harmillisen laimea.
