The aroma is very bready and grainy with some orange and citrus hops. Medium / light body with lots of sharp stinging carbonation. The flavor starts off with piny, citrusy and spicy hops with very light malt presence. With all the hops it hard to pinpoint the malt, but it seems quite grainy. The finish is spicy and citrusy. Very nice, one of my faves at the fest. hayduke (1690), Eureka, California, USA

It was still fresh and poured a nice golden color with a medium white head and light lacing. Nose of caramel malt and some floral and citrus hops. Medium mouthfeel and body. Flavor is malty, with notes of hops and fruit Not a complex beer, but very easy drinking. daknole (3032), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Sampled on draught during Great Taste of Midwest 2009 in Madison Wisconsin. Pours a semi-hazy golden yellow colored brew with an aver sized white head that quickly dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of golden grain malt, dark pitted fruits, some floral hops and a touch of honey. Taste is medium bodied, very light in carbonation with a fruity golden grain malt with some sweet bread dough and a hint of yeast. Finish is semi-sweet with some fruit and golden grain aftertaste. So far, the best one from Amalgamated I’ve tried. kwoeltje (1334), Manchester, Missouri, USA

Bready malt with a subtle hops finish. Should probably have been the first beer I tried at the festival before I smacked my palate with all the hops. Strykzone (1505), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2009 On tap at The Stable. My first Zoigl and I didn’t know what to expect. An delightful and interesting beer. It was a dirty looking gold. Aroma was yeast, apple, and fruit. Kind of funky. Flavor was almost a saison but not quite. It offered yeast, complex fruit, and funk. Pleasant and, again, interesting. Each sip began thin but then became smooth and creamy. A very enjoyable beer. valpoaj (363), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Backlogged Rating - From GTMW ’09 - Poured a medium golden with a pretty solid head. Aroma was very odd...very yeasty, but just a odd funk that was unique and hard to describe from such a small pour...that being said, it was not particularly pleasant. Flavor was also very odd...barnyardy/saison-like with a very strong metallic note...heavy dose of bread/yeast and a medium sweetness. Moderate on the palate. Hmmmm, tried this one just because I’ve never tried a Zoigl, but don’t think I’m going to be running to try this one again
