COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Amarcord Brewery in the small medieval town of Apecchio, Italy, AMA Bruna is a beer made specifically for the Italian dinner table. Designed by Brooklyn Brewmaster Garrett Oliver, Ama Bruna is refermented in the bottle with brown candy sugar(7,5% ABV). Complex, but soft on the palate, the malt flavors are pronounced but subtle, with flavors of toffee, a touch of chocolate, pear and cinnamon as a result of the caramelized sugar.

355ml bottle. BB 03/27/15. Pours an amber red with plenty of sediment. Smell is wine, vinous, tart dark fruits, malt, spells pretty springy. Was on sale at Beinnys so grabbed it. Flavor is a bit oxidized, bit of mint, some soy, floral notes, sweet malt, dark fruits, low body. The smell was really nice, flavor not as much, it does get better as you go with some almost tropical fruit notes.

Alengrin (1715) - BELGIUM - JUL 24, 2014
Belgian-style dubbel in Amarcord’s AMA series, with loosely structured, light beige head and caramel brown colour, misty. Pleasant aroma of chocolate, candi sugar, nuts, caramel, jute and aniseed, taste mildly fruity, raisins, spicy accents, mouthfeel a bit too watery and thin for this genre, some candi sweetness, finish mildly hoppy, not turning bitter, again rather thin. As much as I love Belgian-style ales and as much as I admire the often underestimated brewing activity in the north of Italy, this one just didn’t quite do it for me.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a dark tan head. Rich malt and dark fruit aroma. Malt and light caramel flavor with dark fruits. Medium bodied - somewhat lighter than expected. Dark fruit and rich malt lingers with light caramel and light yeast.

Cloudy reddish brown color, average sized off white head with good retention. Medium body, soft carbonation. Texture is surprisingly watery. Aroma of malts, yeast, spices, raisins, dark fruits. Medium sweet taste. It lacks body to be a great Dubbel. Also, little bit bland. Not bad, but expected more.

Hazy amber, almost brown, with a big foamy head. Smells like pizza dough. Tastes like medievil oregano. Beligan dark sugar is understated. The bottle feels luxurious and looks even more important. Fizzy, quick palate. I would buy this just for the marketing of it.

Bottle. The look is brown in color, beige colored, and clear. The smell is fruity, sugary, honey, raisin, and creme brûlée. The taste is much the same. Too sweet.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown color. Malty easy drinking ale. Taste more like a brown ale then an abbey dubbel. Pretty good
