COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Amarcord Brewery in the small medieval town of Apecchio, Italy, AMA Bruna is a beer made specifically for the Italian dinner table. Designed by Brooklyn Brewmaster Garrett Oliver, Ama Bruna is refermented in the bottle with brown candy sugar(7,5% ABV). Complex, but soft on the palate, the malt flavors are pronounced but subtle, with flavors of toffee, a touch of chocolate, pear and cinnamon as a result of the caramelized sugar.

355ml bottle at Porterhouse Cork. Pours a deep ruby-black with a thin off-white head. Aroma is quite lagery, grassy caramel, bit of hop, quite acidic. Taste is medium sweetness and medium bitterness. Quite perfumed, floral rose overtones. Lively carbonation, floral aftertaste. Reasonable, but not a great representation of the style.

Bottle from HEB. Dark, clear brown with amber highlights and a large eggshell colored head. Aroma of toast, dark fruit, toffee, and bubblegum. The taste is yeasty and a little soapy and not nearly as sweet as beers of this style generally are. Medium bodied, bubbly, and slightly spicy. Not bad, but the flavors are definitely on the soft side.

Bottle from The Bottle Shop, Cardiff. Served in tulip glass. Pours dark brown and clear, with a fizzy off-white head dissolving to lacing. A sweet carameliness in the aroma, apples, some chocolate. A medium sweetness giving way to gentle bitterness in the mouth, with a lively feel and medium body. A long finish and I can still taste the caramel and only late does it feel like there is any hoppiness. Nice beer that I imagine would go well with Italian foods. Can definitely taste the effects of the candy sugar. Worth a try.
