Pours deep brown with a nice medium tan head. Complex nose of coffee, wood. Aromas are coffee, roasted malts, liquorice, red and dark fruits, some wooden and earthy notes and a hint of hazelnut. Low carbonation, smooth texture. Long bitter and earthy finish. Remind me some scotch ales with that smoky/woody/earthy character. Excellent imperial porter according to me.

Very dark brown color, big brownish head. Aroma of coffee, herbs, malt. Simple but very effective. Taste of coffee, herbs, red fruits. Very intense and smooth. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Alcohol is nowhere to be found. Good, good stuff.

Bottle from the The Hop Pole (shop) Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Thursday 20th August 2015 Looks superb, dark, dark brown in fact probably black, slight ruby hue at bottom of glass, so back to dark brown, large creamy light beige head. Very soft in mouth creamy, lots of coffee, cappuccino, tangy fruits (think dates, dried figs) Surprised with how good this is. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 3.9

Bottle from Seiyu. I picked up a handful of seriously discounted ones and been sitting on them. Best-by date still far off. L: pours very dark with reddish highlights and a big tan head that drops away. Some lacing. S: has a deep-roasted aroma, aniseed, cigar ash, dark chocolate. Lovely. T: similarly, roasted malts, cacao flavour. F: has a lightly carbonated and creamy feel, medium bodied, alcohol well-hidden. O: great porter this one. I’ll save my last bottle for winter.

Dark brown color, small tan head, not the firmest one. Aroma is wonderful, lots of cocoa with some unusual notes, maybe from Malawi sugar, lots of coffee. Taste is also coffee and cocoa, some vanilla and nuts, very nice. Medium body, soft carbonation, creamy texture. It also has some peppery notes, chilli pepper taste but without the burning part. Very interesting and different than usual. //stellabeershop

Pours dark brown with moderate body beige head. Aroma is roasty coffee, dry grasses, chocolate. Moderate carbonation, moderately sweet, with light coffee notes and a light hop bitterness on the finish. A bit of caramel, molasses from the sugar also present. Quite nice, dangerously drinkable, and an unbelievable value at 150 yen.

Bottle from Seiyu for ¥150. Poured into a Duvel tulip. Pours a deep black with a medium-sized tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aromas of roasted coffee, milk chocolate, cacao nibs, cream, toffee and alcohol. Soft to average carbonation with a cola-like mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Taste is fairly close to the nose with some chilli peppers, vanilla and wood coming out as it warms up. Slightly warming finish. Kind of like Prairie’s Bomb! but a lighter, less complex version. Pretty great for the price though.

Pour sentir le café, ça sent le café. Une bière où il y a autant à boire qu’à manger. Une belle réussite.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais. Black beer lasting tan head. Big hit of mocha on the aroma. Smells powdery. It’s a little off the pure lovely mocha but still pretty good. Lots of coffee and chocolate some plum dark cherry. Yes it’s bug and full of flavour but I just think it’s a little too much trying too hard . Hides abv well.
