We chose to call our beer Gradisca, because we brew it in this corner of Romagna and San Marino, between the sea and the mountains, a land rich in history and amazing stories. But above all, as a tribute to an illustrious celebrity who was born here, film director Frederico Fellini, who conquered cinema-goers the whole world over with his rich and poetic vein of inspiration, winning as many as four Oscars for his films, including, of course, Amarcord, where Gradisca is the protagonist. Elusive and unattainable, but the object of everyone’s desire. Her sheer grace and elegance are a perfect match for the delicate color of a beer to suit any occasion. This special lager beer has a bright color and forms a light, compact head. The flavor is full and rounded, with a pleasant taste of hops and a delicate scent of flowers. It presents to the palate with a pleasantly fruity aroma accompanied by a refreshing aftertaste of hops that makes it particularly refreshing.

Suggested pairings:
Excellent as an aperitif or with fresh and light dishes such as pizza, vegetables, white meats, sautéed vegetables and savoury pies.

Note: Uses the name Gradisca on the local market, and Prima Donna for export.
Known for being 4.7% ABV in the past, now at 5.2% ABV.

330 ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with light head. Aromas of cereal and honey. Flavors of light malt, biscuit, honey, and a bit of cardboard. Nice, but not too exciting

Bottle 0,50L. Clear golden colour with average, frothy, white head. Aroma of straw, chessnut and a little cask wood. Taste starts light sweet and crispy with grassy note and medium bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation. Reminds me on pilsner, rather than lager.

Italian lager labelled Gradisca Bionda Speciale, but exported as Gradisca Prima Donna. Honours film maker Fellini, who was apparently born in this region. Stronger than before now, with stable, snow white head and warm colour of ’old gold’, clear. Dry maltiness, some apple, rhubarb, grass and tonic water in the nose, something sweaty as well. Rounded malt sweetness in the mouth, quickly evolving into a grassy and leafy, long hop bitterness. More so than average, I would even consider this a Pilsener rather than just a standard pale lager.

Shared a 50cl bottle. Pours a straw yellow colour with a white head. Aroma is hay, cereal and malt. Average carbonation and light watery body. Taste is light bitter, light sweet with a dry hoppy finish. Some astringent notes. Overall, an average boring lager. Nothing special about it.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2014 I must admit, i bought this only because I adore Federico Fellini. This is not a cheap beer. Well, Magali Noël as beautiful Gradisca in Amarcord is simply breathtaking so I must give it a try. Anyway, hazy golden color, frothy white head, soft carbonation. Biscuity sweet with very little biterness. Passable lager actually, not bad at all.

bottle 0.75 L. Packaging very accurate. Colour: pale yellow foam with low and very persistent. Aroma: Fruity with sweet notes prevalent. Taste: medium sweet and very light bitterness with a finish that goes off quickly. Being a craft beer is not anything remarkable, and with a relatively high cost.
